The Valley Campfire: Monday Afternoon

Layla yawned and stretched as she exited her alcove after five days of being a leather bound set of encyclopedias. She still felt a bit fuzzy and stiff for some strange reason. It wasn't as if she had actually spent the week in bed but she still felt like she had.

Taking the opportunity to stretch her legs, Layla ambled into town to purchase some provisions from the Quik Stop. She returned to the campfire ring with a cooler of drinks and some tofu dogs for roasting as well as the goods for the actual s'mores.

After building a fire, she sat back with a cool beverage and started roasting a hot dog. After spending a week as a set of books, some fire roasted vegetable protein sounded pretty darn good.

Raven nodded. "I do understand what you mean about worlds being remade. I have not seen this happen, but I have heard of it happening in the past." Every summer it seemed sometimes.

"And it'll happen again," Layla said with a sigh. "That's part of the reason I'm here. To take a little time off from my other world."

"I left mine because...you probably already know why," Raven said. Because she didn't want to see Azarath destroyed by her father as he tried to get to her.

"I do," Layla replied with a serious nod. "And when the time comes I'll be happy to help you with him if you should need it."

When. Not what Raven wished to hear. "Thank you," she said. "I will welcome your aid and that of any other. I fear I will need it."

"Well that's what friends are for," Layla said with a cheerful grin as she pulled out a roasted tofu dog. "That and for free tofu dogs. What would you like on it?"

"What do you think I would like?" Raven said. Her tone might be called teasing if Raven was capable of such a thing.

"Ketchup, relish, mustard and onions," Layla smirked. "Which I just happen to have here as well.

"Yes, please," Raven said. "That sounds delightful."

Layla slathered on everything and handed it over. "There you go. Enjoy."
