Wendy the Werewolf Stalker Campfire, Tuesday Early Evening

Okay, so she hadn't been spending that much time at her cabin, but Tahiri was putting in an appearance tonight. There was a decent assortment of hot dogs and s'more fixings laid out as dictated by the Unofficial Official Law of Campfires, and a fire crackling away in the firepit.

As for Tahiri, she was sitting with her back against a log, not really paying attention to the datapad on her lap; she was more preoccupied with using the Force to idly create shapes in the smoke from the campfire. Spirals, vaguely animal-looking objects, anything really, but a lot of starfighters. She kept coming back to those, for some reason.

[OOC: Up a little early to account for people (including me) hitting up HP midnight showings tonight . . .]

The shapes in the smoke were what made Tara pause, really. It took her a second to see that they were ... some kind of ship? Flying saucer? She didn't know? ... and a second more to wonder if they were intentional.

She realized she'd been standing there watching the shapes drift by for a long moment. "Hi." The greeting was mostly to her sandals, but it was there.

"Hi," Tara returned again, smiling a little as she settled on the ground near the girl. "Are you drawing those? It's pretty."

She'd never tried anything like it, but it didn't seem hard, exactly.

"And I'm, um Tara."

[Alas, am fleeing work -- will be back on 8-ish my time if not before.]

Eleanor wandered out from the cabin and took a seat on a log by the fire. She watched the smoke with interest. "Are you a mage?"

"Oh, cool," Tara said, watching for another moment. "Can I try?"

It was just another kind of grabbing hold with her mind, different and more precise. Different, but she might have a chance.

Or she might totally make a fool of herself.

"Jedi," she repeated. "I've only heard of that in passing. Since arriving here of course, as there are none where I'm from." She glanced back at the fire. "Mages, however, are another thing."

Tara got a mental image of someone claiming the smoke was all hers and stifled a smile behind her hand. "Thanks," she said, and reached out, concentrating on -- a line, first. Then maybe a heart?

Or a failure. That thought made her concentration go wobbly, and the smoke drifted away from the tentative control. "That didn't go so well."

life_inshadow: ([neu] are you kidding?)

"Like air," Tara said, halfway to herself. She concentrated again, differently, and, in the process, left herself open to see the other girl's aura more than she normally would.

It wasn't something she did all the time, noticing auras. Most of the time it was a background hum; she couldn't tell much from it, so she ignored it. But this time .... it was off. Like someone had jammed a piece into Tahiri's energy that didn't belong.

Weird. Tara blinked a few times, trying to clear her mind. "I'll try again," she said, even more hesitantly. "h-how did you learn this?"

Also, was she evil or something? That was kind of an important question, and not one Tara knew how to ask directly.

[Let me know if this is not OK and I will fix.]

"Yes," she nodded. "Though there are many different types of magic. I was thinking of trying to compare how spells and spellcasting worked between the different types."

"I don't always use them myself. My type of magic is more intristic than spell-based." She stared at the fire for a moment, and tight ball of flame formed and floated mid-air above the campfire.

"I'm a Fire Mage."

It wasn't like it was a question Tara knew how to ask. Tahiri wasn't acting evil. She wasn't even nasty, and the Jedi thing sounded ... peaceful, really.

She'd check some of her books and see if she could get a better idea what it could mean.

"Cool," she said thoughtfully. "I'm, um, a witch? I can do a little telekinesis but nothing -- you know. Nothing big. But the smoke would be a good tool for learning control. It's harder to work with than a pencil."

Jaina had actually been wanting to check up on Tahiri, so she was glad to find her all nice and out in the open where she could find her. "You're having too much fun," she said, nodding at her handiwork.

She shrugged as she took a seat, very glad the world didn't seem to be going randomly sideways anymore. "It was a very long trip," she said after considering this. Really, there was no way to describe it all concisely. "How are you doing?"

Kind of a double-sided question there, yeah.

"Barely," Jaina corrected. Because what was a frostbitten foot on top of everything else. Wtf, Willix, wtf.

"And uh, yeah," she said more seriously, figuring Tahiri might know what she meant. "I'm kind of getting that."
