Campfire of Wendy the Werewolf Stalker [Thursday Evening]
Emma was not wanting to go far from her cabin tonight, in case something hideously humiliating tried bubbling forth in song. She wanted to keep the option of a strategic retreat open in case it became needed.
Not that the tune she kept singing under her breath as she poked at the fire was high culture, but at least it wasn't some Spice Girls or something equally awful.
Baby look at me
And tell me what you see.
You ain't seen the best of me yet
Give me time, I'll make you forget the rest.
I got more in me, and you can set it free.
I can catch the moon in my hand,
Don't you know who I am?
Remember my name!
I'm gonna live forever.
I'm gonna learn how to fly!
I feel it coming together,
People will see me and die.
I'm gonna make it to heaven,
Light up the sky like a flame !
I'm gonna live forever,
Baby, remember my name...
This day couldn't be over soon enough.
[OOC: Open campfire, open post. You know you love it...]

"Emma?"

"Jean," Emma replied pleasantly, relieved that her background music died down a bit. "Out for an evening stroll?"

The temptation to peek and see was very, very high, but Emma didn't want a telepathic singing bitchfight right now, thank you.

That would have been traumatizing.
"Darling, you're on an island with aliens," Emma replied. "Define normal."
But am I here? It's kind of hard to tell
I do a good impression of myself
But what's normal now anyhow?
"Oh hell."

This time when the music bubbled up, however, she just smirked at Jean and let it flow. This song she knew - and liked - and decided to play with it.
I can't slow down,
I can't hold back
Though you know I wish I could,
Oh no, there ain't no rest for the wicked,
Until we close our eyes for good.

"Weight of days lost holding you down
You'll look for me, but I won't be found.
The bluebirds flutter in my chest,
Oh, they want to sing..
You'll have to break me open to hear anything."

"Got you too, huh?" he observed.

I have to find the will to carry on
On with the -
On with the show -
The show must go on...
"...I think that was a yes," Emma said sulkily as she wrinkled up her nose. "I hate this island."

"It's better than inanimate objects coming to life, or that damned sex-pollen week, but I do rather enjoy being in control of my vocal cords. Spontaneous verbal emissions are highly unfortunate."

"An entire island full of sex-crazed students and adults," Emma said cheerily. "Worse than usual, I mean. By the end of the week, I was about to murder someone, and I do believe some students managed to break one of the cabins in their enthusiasm."

When you live from day to day.
City streets don't have much pity,
When you're down, that's where you'll stay
In the city, oh, oh.
In the city.
Emma laughed/sang in response. "It could be worse, I suppose. I've heard all sorts of rumors and stories from the older students."

Or, y'know, sang it, but that was rather the order of the day.

And sometimes it was more fun actually hearing it from a source, instead of just taking it.
