Main Campfire - Wednesday Morning

It was too nice a day to not take advantage of before being cooped up at work all afternoon and evening, Claire decided. Which was why she was out at the main campfire early with breakfast sausages and a huge iron skillet she found that would cook eggs over an open fire.

She was in an excellent mood, now that her boyfriend was no longer puppy-shaped. They had handwavily spent the previous evening snuggling and watching movies.

For now her excellent mood translated into making breakfast for anyone who happened to stop by.

[Open campfire! I know I'm not the only one stuck at work and not off on vacation.]

The Magical Reserves meeting -- and her plans with Karla -- were not until later in the day, so Raven had her morning hours free. She stepped outside to enjoy the sunlight and wandered over to the campfire. "Good morning, Claire," she said.

"It was difficult at first, but I am doing much better now," Raven said. "How have you been?"

"I would appreciate that," Raven said. "But no sausage, please, I do not eat meat."

Liir had work, off course, but there are few things that could call to one like the smell of cooking food.

"Morning," he greeted her.

"I don't suppose a pair of eggs would do me any harm," he offered as he sat at the fire, "at least, when served on a plate. They'd probably hurt if you threw them, er, not that you would."

"For a terrible joke?" he said before folding his legs. He'd given them quite a stretch this morning, walking Makejoy.

"May I have a sausage as well?"

"I am still uncomfortable with the lack of privacy," Raven said. "It is hard to meditate. But I have found I can do so out in the Preserve."

"I wouldn't mind it," he admitted as he held his hand out for the stick and sausage.

"Though I sincerely doubt you're mean. It's something about offering me food and a friendly greeting. Then again, you could just be crafty."

"I require it daily to center myself and strengthen my shields," Raven said, making herself comfortable on one of the logs that circled the fire. "I find it very relaxing."

"Hello, Liir," Raven said, waving to her big sib. "How are you this morning?"

Raven nodded. "I must shield myself from the emotions of others or they will overwhelm me," she said. "I am empathic."

He moved over to sit a little closer to her.

"Reasonably well enough. Yourself?"

He quirked his lips thoughtfully at her before shaking his head.

"If you are, then I suppose I am willing to be lulled and will think no more about it. There is, after all, sausage."

He kept his out of the fire and turned it slowly.

"Yes, very much so," Raven said. "The more people there are, and the closer they are, the stronger the emotions seem to me, and I must work harder to block them out. And I do not wish to eavesdrop on private matters."
