Main Campfire, Friday Afternoon

This time, there were marshmallows. Two bags of them, even, so there would be no bitching this time around. Well, at least not about the marshmallows.

There was also a fire.

And Bobby was there too, because Kate thought seeing people would keep him from getting too bored. Kate had also acquired a little red ball for him to play with, although ”playing” seemed to constitute of poking the ball back and forth.

And of course, Kate was there, sipping from a bottle of Coke.

"Hi!" Maron said, grinning. "And is that a student or a pet, so I can gush appropriately?"

That being Bobby of course.

"It's a student," Kate informed her with a grin. "Bobby Drake's his name."

"I'll keep my gushing to a minimum then," Maron laughed. "As I wouldn't want to offend him horrible, even if he is rather cute."

"I think it's too late to worry about that," Kate laughed. "He's been called adorable by many people while he's been like this."

That deserved another laugh.

"He'll have no dignity left then!" she said, neatly settling herself down. "Has he been like that long?"

"Since Sunday. That's why he has the ball now, he started to seem a bit bored," Kate explained.

"Maybe you should take him swimming?" she wondered, considering that. "I mean, he seems well suited for it all things considered."

Maron shrugged. "I'm glad I haven't turned into an animal yet. From what I understand it gets most everyone eventually."

"And others it gets when they've only been on the island for two days," Kate remarked with a wry grin.

"I have thought about that. Especially after Mr. Deadpool wanted to make him swin in a kiddie pool for money."

"He didn't?!" Maron giggled, looking surprised. "I mean, I suppose it would work, but that's so... so..."

Excuse her, she just had to laugh.

"Opportunist!"

"Oh he definitely did," she nodded. "That was pretty much all he had to say about the whole thing. I just stared at him, like ...okay."

"Definitely!" Maron agreed. "Who thinks that as the--first thing, you know?"

"Mr. Deadpool, apparently," Kate shrugged. "He's... quite a character."

That got another shrug.

"Maybe just have a pool then," she decided, grinning at the penguin. "And see if he wants to swim. Making him do so would be mean."

"He would probably be okay with swimming. But yes, it would be mean to just fling him into a pool... I'll have to look into that tomorrow, if he hasn't turned back by then."

Maron grinned.

"I think we've exhausted that topic," she said laughing. "Or should change it either way before he gets a big head--pretty girls talking about him all the time! Has Fandom been well enough, besides the animals, for you?"

"It's been pretty good so far. Everyone seems nice," Kate smiled. "Oh, and I'm Kate, by the way, and from Overland Park, and 2009."

"I should've asked!" she said, with a laugh. "Forgive me! I'm Maron, from Tokyo."

She grinned. "Which, really, covers the important things, I think. Where is Overland Park?"

"It's okay, I would be more fascinated with the penguin too," Kate laughed. "And Overland Park is in Kansas."

"It's less usual than a person," she said, a bit ruefully. "Even for here! I wonder why a penguin?"

Maron shook her head.

"That's in the States, right? So--this country?"

"Yeah, that's here. Pretty much right in the middle of the country," Kate replied with a little smile.

"So much space here." She smiled back. "Bit of a shock, that."

"I bet. Tokyo's pretty cramped, isn't it?"

Kate had dated a boy who was a complete Japan fan. She had been subjected to a lot of rants on related subjects, including the awesomeness of Tokyo.

"It doesn't feel like that when you live there," if that was all you really knew, "but pretty much--there's almost always people around, so it can be hard to just get a break if you need one."

"It's a question of what you're accustomed to, I guess," Kate shrugged, "it would probably feel more crowded to me than it does to you, because I grew up where there's lots of space. Still, I had to come all the way over here to have a break."

"Do you think this is a good spot for a break?" she teased. "What with the animals, and the glitter, and the random singing..."
