Third Floor Common Room, Early Monday Afternoon
"But why do you want to make M.O.T.s?"
”Because there’s a triumph."
"But what kind of triumph?" Kate's brother's voice crackled on speakerphone from her cellphone that was on the kitchen counter.
”It was a school thing,” Kate answered, trying not to sound as evasive as she was being. ”We... won something.”
It made her brother snort. ”Since when do you care about your school winning anything?”
Kate was baking. Muffins of Triumph, to be exact. She was still stuck in mothering and food-making mode, much like she had been all weekend. And she desperately needed to do something that reminded her of home. So she decided on M.O.T.s, which were food, and also very much a family thing.
The problem was that Kate wasn’t actually much of a baker, but for now this was a happy thing, because it gave her an excuse to be on the phone to her brother every five minutes through the baking process.
”Since I've been at this school,” she answered her brother’s question. ”Where winning means something.”
She was over the moon about having all of her hopefully-would-be-friends back in the land of the awake and in this universe, thank you very much.
It was definitely time for Muffins Of Triumph.

"Who's that?" her brother piped up on the phone.
"It's Claire, which probably means I won't need you a lot anymore," she answered before turning towards Claire. "That's my brother Marshall."

"I smell something good!" she said when she poked her head in the common room door, followed by the rest of her.

Why not. He didn't have to stay long. He entered the common room, approaching the kitchen area.
