Sixth Floor Kitchen - Thursday Afternoon

The events of last week had triggered Claire's domestic instincts so after a trip to town for supplies, she set up shop in the new kitchen, cooking up pounds of pasta and three different kinds of sauce - a regular tomato, a four cheese and a pesto.

She also had salad and hot, crusty Italian bread.

Hurley had wandered up, to finally check out the big kitchen properly.

"Oh, hey Claire," he said.

"...having a dinner party?"

"Not necessarily," Claire said. "Just felt like cooking for everyone."

"Cool," Hurley said. Pause. "You didn't, like, sense a need for lots of pasta, did you?"

Yes, he was still convinced Claire was psychic.

Claire gave him a confused look because she had completely forgotten about telling him that. "Uh, no? It just seemed like something easy to cook for a lot of people."

"Oh, okay," Hurley said. "Didn't know if that was part of the whole package thing." He smiled.

"What package?" Claire asked, stirring the tomato sauce.

"You know, the... reading minds thing," Hurley said.

"The... reading minds thing," Claire repeated, confused for another moment until she remembered their first meeting. "Oh, uh... yeah, about that? I was teasing you. I can't read minds."

Hurley blinked a few times. "Duuuuude." He wasn't upset, just sort of in awe of how long he'd believed it.

"I'm sorry," Claire said, looking embarrassed.

"Man, do I have gullible written on my forehead?" Hurley said, smiling a bit.

"Penelope told me about you," she explained. "Your hair is very distinctive."

"Thanks for saying my hair," Hurley said. "You need any help with the pasta?"

"Sure! Could you fill that big pot with water for me?" Claire asked.

"Pot with water, easy," Hurley said, getting the big pot. "So, looking forward to the fall at all?"

"Mmm, not really, cause Peter will be leaving the island," Claire said.

"Peter?" Hurley said.

"Petrelli? He's my uncle," she explained.

"Oh," Hurley said. "I don't think I've met him." He filled the pot with water.

Claire nodded. "It's been fun hanging out with him, so it's gonna suck when he leaves."

"Yeah," Hurley said. "I kinda wish I had family on island, too."

"It was a nice surprise when I found out he was here," Claire said.

"Was he, like, teaching or something?" Hurley said.

"Nope, he just graduated," she said. "Weird timeline stuff."
