Third Floor Common Room, Saturday Afternoon
Kate had come out of hiding.
After several days of staying firmly in her own room, she was now in the common room, lounging on one of the couches. She was reading an old magazine and eating popcorn from a big bowl.
The magazine was fascinating enough, but she kept looking up towards the door and wondering whether she should go down the hall to knock on a random person’s door and drag them back to keep her company.
[Open! Come entertain her, so she doesn't go bother random people.]

"And that is the silliest thing I've ever heard."

"Well, actually the idea is still alive and well today," she added after a pause for thought.

"It's still silly then," he said, firm in his opinion.
"There's no such thing as a perfect person. After all, you love someone for their flaws as well as their features. Anything less would be boring and stale."
no subject
"You're preaching to the choir," she said, shaking her head a little. "But the society here isn't big on flaws. It loves its idea of perfection. Especially physical perfection."
no subject
"Every society is fixated on looks. Physical perfection, however, is a bit different in Oz. It has more to do with a man's clothes, the cut of his suit, than it does with what's underneath. Thoroughly shallow."
Then he smirked a little.
"It's a strange dichotomy, though; a society fixated on physical perfection that does everything it can to save one from doing hard work."

Kate sighed. "People are just full of suck, that way." Said like someone who might have been kicked around a little by her community once or twice.

He shook his head.
"Hypocrisy is the way of the world, of all worlds, but they at least try and tart it up a little where I'm from."

She ran her fingers through her hair, and offered him a little smile. "How did we get from bad 80s movies to hypocrisy at large?" Well, quite easily. But it may have been a hint at moving the conversation to lighter topics.

Then he glanced at the kitchen.
"Either way, though, the brownies need to come out so I'll just go do that, shall I? And you can come up with something thoroughly ridiculous, such as the various and arcane uses of popcorn or perhaps what color ribbons you prefer while transformed into a small fluffy animal."

"What's going on now?"
In the movie.

He flopped on the couch, then yawned.
"Anything planned for the day?"

"I usually come in here and work on magic. Or homework. Neither of which, I've learned, are particularly normal."
no subject
"Or at least that's how it feels today. Not as odd as homework or magic, but still not exactly really normal."

"Tomorrow I thought I might actually venture outside the dorms. Imagine that. Billions of new chances to weird people out, and far more trouble in getting back to my room if things get too bad."
no subject
Just random curiousity.

"I've been wanting to go bowling for a while now, but I'd need to ask people to come with me for that. Although I think they have an arcade at the same place, that might be fun too."
