The Roof, Friday evening

Other people's cognitive dissonance aside, Dinah was finding the latest weirdness totally amusing. Much better than fighting demons or being a vampire. She still had stuff to think over from both those interludes, but at least today was being a good distraction.

Right now she was practicing her air-walking on the roof again, though, and actually doing pretty well at it.

Her Zen was about to be interrupted. A lot.

"Dinaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!" It was a half-wail, half-greeting as a blonde little witchling practically flung herself at Dinah.

Karla, while still her own proper gender, was definitely among the cognitive dissonant today.

"Karlaaaa-- oof!" Dinah sang back, then fell off the air six inches, wobbled, and clutched at Karla as she was glomped. "Hi and hi and are you okay? You sound like the world is ending."

Or like the five-year-olds she used to babysit who would greet her with, my brother took my dolly make him give it BACK!

That...wasn't a bad analogy, actually. Though Karla came with a little more existential angst.

"I missed you and the males are all females and that's just horribly wrong and I don't wanna be a male because I can't be a Queen or a Healer and I missed you a whole lot and I have presents!"

This was all said in a single breath, yes.

"I missed you too, yay presents, and hunh?" Dinah said, hugging her back hard. "You don't have to be a male. Well, not today, anyway." Another hug, and a sending of, It'll be okay! And it's so good to see you.

Karla...still wasn't sure how she felt about Leda right now. The guilt over failing her in the other world was still mixed with the anger, resentment, and worry over the last night she was here. The visit Leda probably didn't even know about. But that didn't mean she hadn't missed the hell out of Leda when she'd been gone.

And she was emotionally exhausted today.

"Kiss kiss," she said, giving Leda a smile and opening her arms for a hug. "Missed you."

Of course Leda hugged her, holding her tight. "I missed you too. Sorry I missed you before you left." She herself was riding a wave of weary acceptance, and conditional surrender. To the drugs, and her own weakness.

"We can't go just one week without something weird happening?" Triela complained as she stalked out onto the roof with her hands stuffed in the pockets of her jacket.

Triela got a giant hug, too. Part of it was because Karla had missed her a lot while she was gone. Another part was because she was a female, the way she was supposed to be. "Triela!"

"Karla," Triela responded with a little laugh as she hugged back. "Good to see you too." The return hug was a bit harder than she might have made it otherwise since Karla sounded distressed.

"Hey, Triela," Dinah said with a grin of greeting. "Apparently not? I think it's kinda hilarious. How've you been? I just got back this morning."

"I've been good. I suppose it has been mostly uneventful."

She frowned at Dinah. "And where have you been?" Not that Triela didn't disappear without telling people sometimes, but...

"I'd just take the time to relax." Actually... Triela never really relaxed, so that was a lie.

Spock had come to the roof seeking solitude for meditative purposes.

He should have known that would be less than forthcoming. "My apologies if I am intruding," he said to Dinah, and tilted his head to one side to try to figure out what, exactly, she was doing.

Dinah looked up from concentrating, wobbled, then corrected, pleased. "You're not, it's cool. Besides, I have to learn how to keep my balance while other people are around," she added, taking another careful barefoot step on the air, hovering seven inches over the surface. "I'm Dinah."

"Spock," said Spock. "I do not normally look like this." Er. "What are you doing?"

Karla glanced over at the newcomer. She didn't recognize the body or the psychic scent, which made her a little more comfortable. It was easier dealing with males-who-were-females when she didn't know them as males. Especially since, for all she knew, this female might be female all the time!

Happy thought.

"Kiss kiss," Karla called, feeling a bit more like herself for the first time today. "I'm Karla."

"Kiss...kiss?" Spock echoed, sounding somewhat like he was trying to replicate speech in a language he didn't know at all. Spoken by mouths that were not very like Human or Vulcan ones. "I am Spock."

Hey. Someone Triela hadn't met. She offered the someone a small wave and a nod.

Spock nodded back, but did not wave, keeping his hands folded behind his back. "Good evening."

Leda needed some air. Though she wondered if she was required to be emo to come up on the roof. She hoped not.

Jon made his way up to the roof because he was bored. It just wasn't possible to hang out in the shower for very long, or the comments just got ...really, really crude. Not to mention the hot water eventually ran out.

"Hey... person." Dinah grinned, balancing with her arms out, and tilted her head. "Who I know, but I'm not recognizing at the moment. How's your day going?"

Jon grinned and sat down to watch her. "Well, I turned into a girl, my roommate is apparently hot as a chick, Karla freaked out, I made out with my girlfriend who is your roommate, saw the old man who also turned into a woman and took a nice, long, hot shower. It's been good. Well, except for the Karla part. I think she's gone mental."
