After getting his one class completed, Alex found his way onto the roof to smoke. It was a warm night but it was clear and that meant he could stay up here for awhile and not worry about dying of heat or getting rained on. With a free day tomorrow, getting the relaxation started early just seemed like the thing to do.

He stuck a cigarette in his mouth and lit it, letting it hang from his lips for a few moments before blowing out a cloud of smoke. He wasn't stressed by any means of the imagination but after being a girl and spending most of his weekend being lazy, it was nice to be himself and outside.

And see, he was even being nice, getting out of the room in case Griff wanted it. He was all heart.

"Can't say I've ever heard of it," she admitted. "Only really been to New York City."

And didn't really have time for sight-seeing.

"It's further upstate," Jean replied. "I've only been to the city once, actually."

Claire nodded. "So what brought you to Fandom?"

"My parents wanted me to come to a--" Safer. "--different school. I really don't think they know how weird this place is."

"Yeeeah, my dad certainly didn't," Claire said.

"Apparently Principal Winchester is really good at marketing?"

Jean laughed at that. "She must be."

At least she wasn't an evil shapeshifter, though. Step up from before.

Claire laughed. "Either that or they have someone brainwash our parents."

Idly, she wondered if the school employed the Haitian.

"Maybe there's another school with a similar name people are supposed to be going to."

"Mmm, that's possible," Claire said. "Maybe this weird island is some crazy reality show."

"And when we graduate we win a million dollars?"

"That would be an awesome graduation present."

"I'd be willing to stay for that!" Maybe. If her team didn't need her...

"You're not planning to stay anyway?" Claire asked.

"I miss my old school," Jean admitted. "My friends."

Claire nodded. "Have you made new friends here?"

"Well, yeah," Jean replied. "But it's not the same, you know?"

"Yeah, I guess not," she said. "I'm planning to stay though. My family moved from Texas to California a few months ago so I'd be starting a new school either way."

"Have you made friends here?"

Claire nodded. "Definitely. My roommate, Dinah, and my boyfriend, Jon, and a whole bunch of other people."

"Then you've already made up for having to move," Jean said cheerfully. She was such a cup half full girl.

"That's a really good way to look at it," Claire agreed with a smile. "Thanks, Jean. You should try sticking around for another semester too."

"We'll have to see what my parents think." If they came here. This was way, way weirder than a school for mutants.

"I found that not telling my parents much of anything about the school has helped," Claire offered.
