Beyond the rapidly-healing scratch on his left arm, Arthur looked downright sprightly today, for whatever measure of the phrase. He rubbed his gloves together as the reservists arrived, and didn't stop until everyone was there. "Two weeks ago, we spoke about guerilla tactics," he said, "I hope you've remembered some of it. Today, we'll be focusing on the stealth, rather than the immediate location of the ambush. We must find ways to render ourselves completely inaudible when need be, both through the use of tools, and our own skills."

He considered the group. "If any of you - including those of you affiliated with the other groups rather than this one - know of any tools at your own disposal that will minimize our own noise, especially in forestal environments or cobblestoned roads or the like, please share those with everyone so that we will know what options we've got if the time comes."

"As for the skills, a bit of hands-on practice might be needed." He nodded towards the preserve. "A while ago, we hid and sought each other out in the woods. Now, I propose something similar, but different. Form up pairs. One of you will venture deep into the forest, and then attempt to return here--" He leaned back to pat a particular spot on the dorm wall, "Without being spotted. You may draft others onto your team, if need me. The other must, at the very least, fully discern the location of the first, and whether or not they're alone-- and if possible, catch them."

He crossed his arms. "Remember that the movement of our troops and their numbers alone is valuable information in the hands of the enemy," he finished, "So it's key that you make sure you are not seen, nor heard enough to find."

"And I hear that knowing is half the battle." Or so the Joes claimed.

"Knowledge is power, as they say," she agreed as she looked around the preserve.

Then she leaned over to kiss his cheek.

"Think this is far out enough if you want to give me a few seconds to get lost in the forest."

"Right, get lost. I'll count with my eyes shut for your benefit." He closed his eyes to begin. "One, three, five, seven, eleven, thirteen, seventeen, nineteen, twenty-three..." No one said he had to count by ones.

She, meanwhile was hiding in some of the brush between a pair of trees, watching him.

"One-hundred-thirteen," he called out, stopping and looking around. He jumped to another part of the area to look farther out into the brush, taking deep breaths to see if he might smell her flower.

She had put it in her pocket, which should dampen the smell, and for the moment, she stayed absolutely still. Hopefully, he'd assume she was already gone and move ahead of her.

He jumped to an area more in the direction of the Dorms and decided to obscure himself in trees and wait to see if she passed by.

She didn't so much look as feel for the waver. It took her a second to parse where it'd started and where it'd ended, but she kept in mind to avoid that area if she could as she started traveling.

The problem with the forest was everything seemed to make noise. Thinking he heard movement, he jumped a few times - back to where they'd started and deeper into the area he'd been before he thought he spotted her.

Sadly, it was just a deer.

Every time she felt it waver, she paused. Waited. Let it settle. She'd look around, make sure her surroundings were clear, and then move another length. Finally, when the clearing was in sight, she decided to run for it.

He made his way back to 'home' and shook his head. "I'm far better at defense than offense."

She was still in the preserve when she paused to wait up for him.

"It's pretty dense undergrowth. You went high, which makes sense for most people since they don't look up, but I know you like to go high, so I looked up. You're harder to spot on the ground, though."

"So then it's more you are good at tracking me," he said. He'd never tell them that.

She blushed a little.

"Kind of."

"Do you sense it when I jump?" Griff asked, curious.

"If I'm looking for it," she said with a quick nod.

"It's kind of something I have to try for."

"You know, there are people in my world who sense it somehow, too." It was weird to think she'd have something in common with them, but he wasn't thinking negatively about it if he could.

"I know. You mentioned."

She was almost hoping he wouldn't make the connection. She knew it couldn't be a positive one.

"You kind of... make a little flutter in the fabric. I can't tell where you are exactly, but I have a good idea of the direction. I still had to find you; I just knew which way to look."

"There goes me sneaking up on you again," he teased, trying not to draw creepy and strange connections. ~~He'd save that for later, after more people tried to kill him.~~

She nudged him with her arm.

"You can. Like I said, I have to be trying. And it's hard to keep looking around like that for too long."

He nudged back, "Then I'll have to try again sometime."

She grinned and nodded.

"We should play our own game and I'll try not to cheat."
