The Deck: Tuesday Night [8-18-09]

The sky was threatening rain, but it had been hot enough that a little rain actually might not be all that bad. Besides, there was a nice breeze that felt just heavenly.

Peyton stretched out on one of the lounge chairs and debated whether she should order a pizza to be delivered. Then again, maybe she should wait. She probably wasn't the only one who'd want to take advantage of the breeze.

"Hey Ellie," Jennifer said. "You know, I was just thinking today... we still haven't made that shopping trip."

"Oh yeah, we need to get on that," Ellie replied. "Maybe sometime this week? I'll be going home for a few days starting this weekend."

"Me too, actually," Jennifer said. "So this week, definitely."

"Sounds like a plan," Ellie said. "Maybe we can check out all the stores in town or something."

"That's a great idea," Jennifer said, totally forgetting about her recent trauma shopping town.

"It would be a fun day out," Ellie added. "So you're going home, too, huh?"

"This time with less getting shot, I hope," Jennifer said. She crossed her fingers.

"I hope, too!" Ellie said a bit worriedly. "I definitely prefer for you to be all safe-like."

"Well, this time, I think they'd be in a lot of trouble if they tried," Jennifer said.

"Oh very true," Ellie nodded. "That makes me feel better, to be honest."

"Yeah. I'm one tough cookie, now," Jennifer said.

"Possibly mint-flavored."

Ellie just smiled at that. "Nothing wrong with mint flavored."

"...now I want thin mints," Jennifer said.

"Maybe when we go shopping, we can stop for some mint chocolate chip ice cream," Ellie suggested.
