Third Floor Common Room, late Friday morning

"Okay, so then I put in the butter?" Dinah frowned into the phone, and said, "Right, low setting." She dumped two sticks of butter in the mixing bowl, and asked, "Why one egg at a time? Oh. Hunh."

Francine's Mom (and Francine) deserved cookies. So Alfred was walking Dinah through his recipe, so no explosions or poisonings would happen. It was a good way to start out her first day of break. Still room for disaster, but hey! Yummy cookies were much more likely.

Yakko ran into the common room and suddenly stopped.

"It's that time again!" After a brief pause, he continued, as if addressing someone who wasn't there. "No, it's time to learn the day's lesson! And to find out what it is, we turn to... The Wheel of Morality!" Yakko motioned towards the door, where a large wheel with 'The Wheel of Morality' written on it in huge letters drifted in.

"Wheel of Morality, turn, turn, turn," Yakko recited as he spun the wheel. "Tell us the lesson that we should learn." As the spinning wheel slowed down and landed on the number 1, a sheet of paper was printed from a slot on the side. Yakko went to his next line as he grabbed the sheet of paper. "Moral Number One. And the moral of today's story is... All things must pass, except for the Tennessee Titans offense."

Yakko shrugged, darted out of the room, and the wheel disappeared out into the hallway a moment later.

With a whole free day, and break week on the horizon, the only sensible thing to do, was find other people to share all that free time with.

So, not her own common room it was.

Since Dinah was on the phone, for now she just waved and grinned at her in greeting.

"Ooh, cookies." Of course she'd help with that one. Well, try. Not a great cook, this one.

"What's the occasion?"

"Finals were... easy, actually," Angela replied. "And Hannibal is great, as always. He's usually not very good at covering when he's not, so I'm pretty confident, there."

"Just looking forward to not having anything much going on for a week."

"I think I'm staying here," Angela replied. "I'm organising the cheerleader barbeque on Wednesday, and my dad's never around the same weeks I am anyway so..." She shrugged. "Quiet week here."

"Not this time," she replied. "I haven't seen the last one in months. I think I should only neglect one at a time."

"Tim... Riggins," she remembered, grabbing a spoon herself.

"And Homecoming last year was 10th of October." And so that didn't sound quite so obsessive and weird. "My birthday."

"Eighteen," she answered, cheerfully doling out spoonfuls of cookie dough. "I don't know if it's going to be the same, but I kind of hope not... I'd like to spread out my celebration."

"Big enough," Angela said, nodding. "I mean, we do the whole homecoming court thing, and a carnival and everything."

"I think you can use pretty much whatever criteria you like," Angela laughed.

"But you just get a whole court; king, queen, princes and princesses. Last year, there was Hannibal and I for the juniors, and I think they managed some kind of group tie for the seniors."

"Not that far off. Only a couple of months," Angela said after she thought about it. "Which is sort of scary."

[identity profile] flashesforinfo.livejournal.com 2009-08-22 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
"I definitely did not know that," she answered. "There is?" Wow.

"One of these times, when I'm in town, I might have to drop by just for that," she considered. "And I haven't been into a church for years."

"Even with missing the last lot, I have still seen enough of that to agree," Angela said firmly.
