The lack of classes meant that Calvin woken up early and noticed the syrup rain.

This should be all the reason you needed as to why he was currently sprawled out on on the deck with goggles covering his eyes and his mouth open, with various open containers scattered around him.

Hobbes was with him, but like any civilised tiger he had an umbrella in one paw to keep the syrup off his fur.

Jack had swimmer goggles on and a bucket to catch the excess. "This is great!"

He noticed the other student (and the tiger, wtf) and exclaimed: "We need more waffles!"
