Hayley was having trouble sleeping again. She'd tried everything. Counting jumping sheep, counting sheep jumping in a minefield, the usual sort of thing. None of it was working. So Hayley padded out to the common room in her bright pink pajamas (thank you, Elle).

She turned on the TV, only to discover late night re-runs of Vanessa Saturn. Wow, TV had change a lot since her time...

Hinata had been up late, reading, and upon seeing the time felt that she really should stretch her legs just a bit before heading to bed.

She paused in the doorway, spotting the unfamiliar girl. "Good evening," Hinata said quietly, as she stepped inside to head over to the kitchen. "Is th-there anything interesting on?"

Kyle hadn't been planning on following Bobby's advice, but when he walked past the common room, he decided to take it as a sign. "Hey Hayley," he said after walking into the room. He stayed standing. "I've got a question for you."

Hey, it was Jak's common room, and someone was there! Who... wasn't his roommate.

Going without the Red Bull this time (and everyone should be thankful for that) Jak ducked his head into the room and waved.

"I think so," Hayley said, looking over from the TV. "I mean, I sure think it's interesting."

"Well I hope I got an answer for ya," Hayley said, smiling.

Hayley waved back. "Wow, those are some ears!" she said.

"Fair enough," she laughed softly, then paused. "I'm just g-getting a drink--did you want anything while I'm up?"

"We didn't go on a date the other day, did we?"

Cal should totally be in bed right now and might fall off at any random moment for SP goodness knew he couldn't call it jet lag; he'd been back in the States for almost a month now. Not even time lag could be appropriate, since he'd been back in 2009 for a week now.

So he was going to blame his restlessness on Merlin. Why not? With those ears nearby, it was a miracle anyone could sleep.

However, he didn't see this insomnia as a bad thing once he drifted into the common room and saw the adoring eyes girl there.

"Hey; discovering more of the wonders that modern television has to offer?"

It wasn't polite to stare so after a glance, she firmly schooled herself to no staring. "Good evening," she offered. "You're a new student, r-right?"

Hayley shook her head. "Oh, it wasn't nothin' official, don't worry." She grinned. "Unless you want it to be!"

Jak blinked, and reached for his ears for a moment. Then he pointed at hers. Hers were way weirder than his.

"Oooh, you got anythin' good?" Hayley said.

Jak perched one hand on his hip and nodded firmly. Yes, he was, and he was more than proud to be here! ...Even if it was still horribly unfair.

With that, he hurled himself at a chair. Mostly figuratively.

Jak held up a finger - wait a moment - and scrambled around in his pocket for the note. It was back to being a little scrumbled up, but still read, in Jono's neat handwriting, Hi My Name Is Jak, I Have Difficulty Speaking.

"Oh, you bet," Hayley said. "Though I don't know if I like this show. This Vanessa girl seems awfully nosy."

Good was... rather subjective, really.

"There's juice," she reported, "apple, orange and--mango. And a l-lot of soda, both diet and regular. Ginger ale and l-lemonade too."

"No!" Kyle caught himself. "Wait. That came out wrong. I didn't mean for it to be a date," he explained. "Even though you're really nice and I had a good time."

"Oh no, you're one of those people that can't talk!" Hayley said. "A mime! Poor you!"

"Mango juice?" Hayley said. "I never ever had that before. What's it like?"

Jak blinked, putting the sign away. A mime?

He gestured in confusion.

This probably didn't help matters.

"Good e-evening," Hinata greeted, giving him a slight smile. "Or night, I suppose as it's rather late."

"It's okay," Hayley said. "We didn't say it was nothin' other than two people gettin' music, ya know? It really didn't have anything to make it a proper date, any way."

Hinata blinked, rather startled.

"D-Did you want anything to drink?" she asked tentatively.
