Hayley fiddled with the remote again, finally getting the hang of how it worked.

She had to stop when she found one of the Elvis movies on. She even squealed with glee at seeing him on the TV.

Hayley was an easily excitable girl, yes.

Liir occasionally found himself in another common room than his own on the way up to the roof and it was such a time as that. One couldn't really miss the squeaking.

"Are you all right?"

"Elvis!" Hayley said. She grinned and pointed at the TV.

He wandered into the room to peer at the television.

"I don't know who that is."

Hayley gaped.

"You gotta be jokin!"

He shook his head firmly but leaned on the couch.

"To be fair, I'm from another world."

"Oh, well, then you get off easy," Hayley said. "He's the greatest man that ever live."

His eyebrows had a passionate affair with his hairline at that.

"Oh? What did he do?"

"He's gorgeous and he sings and he dances," Hayley said.

"Aha."

Well, he'd heard of sillier things.

"What kind of music does he sing and dance to?"

It seemed the safest question.

Raven felt the surge of glee as she climbed the stairs to the fifth floor, so of course she had to pause and see what was so exciting on the fourth. "Good evening, Hayley," she said, stepping into the common room.

"Oh, hiya Raven!" Hayley said, pointing at the TV. "Elvis!"

"...Elvis?" Raven repeated, staring at the TV. "He is an actor?"

"He's the King!" Hayley said, not too helpful. Hey, she was excited.

"Of which country?" Raven said. "I am not familiar with a King Elvis, but I know there are many small countries that I have not studies yet."

Hayley blinked a few times. "...you never heard of Elvis?"

Raven shook her head. "I attempted to familiarize myself with much of the culture before I came here, but there was so much to cover that I know there is much that I missed."

"He's the King of Rock and Roll!" Hayley said. "And look at him. He's dreamy. I wonder what he looks like now..."

"Ah, he is a musical icon," Raven said, understanding at last. She knew what rock and roll was, at least.

"The best ever!" Hayley said.

"I prefer less...enthusiastic music," Raven admitted. Give her classical or new agey music and she would be content.

"...why would you want less enthusiasm?" Hayley said. It was an honest question.

"I often use music to meditate," Raven said. "Therefore I wish something soothing and relaxing."

"Meditate?" Hayley said. "You a beatnik?"

"I am not certain," Raven said. "What is a beatnik?"

"...A beatnik is a beatnik," Hayley said, again being ever so helpful. "You know?"

"No, I do not," Raven said, making a mental note to look the word up when she returned to her room. "I do not know what a beatnik is, but if the meditate, then I have something in common with them."

"Do you like jazz?" Hayley asked.

"I find some of it pleasing to the ear," Raven said. "My preference is for classical or what some call 'new age.'"

"Bet it sounds better than old age!" Hayley said, giggling too enthusiastically.
