kappa kappa gremlin meeting | after classes | friday | september 11

And here they were. His men. His frat. Arthur was happily (if idly) fiddling with his gloves while he waited for everyone to enter. The door slammed shut omniously as the last one did. "Ah," he said, "I see you've all managed to make it. Welcome to Kappa Kappa Gremlin, Fandom's first and only fraternity. We are all men here..." his eyes trailed past Illyria, "Despite appearances, and we have a reputation to uphold."

Hannibal's eyes went to Illyria at the same time, grateful that she wasn't trying to show them that she could be a man today. That had been...potentially scarring. "And since we're all men here, you don't have to hold back. No putting on a show to impress someone, no acting like someone you're not. Be a man. I'm Hannibal King, as some of you probably know. And my co-leader is..."

He looked towards Arthur at that, figuring Arthur could do his own introduction and he didn't need to incur princely wrath for speaking for him so soon.

"Arthur Pendragon," Arthur said, smoothly, "Prince of Camelot, but there's no reason for that to mean anything within these four walls, or wherever else we decide to take ourselves." Because it was hard to be princely when you were off being a Man. "Anyway, as it seems to be a hallowed tradition at this school to start things off with introductions..." He smiled, lightly. "Your name, your age, how much drink you've ever managed all at once, and the best thing you've ever conquered. Or killed on a hunt. I'm sure you can all think of something."

"And be honest," Hannibal added once Arthur had laid out the introductions guidelines. "Don't pad your total just so it seems like you're better than you are. We're all guys here--"

Well, Illyria was always going to be the exception to the rule.

"--so we'll all be respectful in that guy fashion." Which meant there'd be teasing and taunting and jokes about if size really does matter. All that awesome stuff. "Once we're done with introductions, we'll also open the floor for suggestions of what you wanna do this year. Go big, go small, go anything. Just let us know."

He tried to think of anything he'd forgotten. "Arthur? Anything you wanna add before we make with the intros?"

"Yes," Arthur said, considering his stooges people. "We'll take all suggestions but bowling. Let's save rolling rocks around for the band, shall we?" ... Arthur was not allowed to be told anything about modern times. "Finally, there are cheeseburgers, so make sure to get your share."

He pointed at the table. What? If he was going to do something like this, he'd do it right.

"Bowling's really fun when you're drunk," Hannibal felt compelled to say. "We'll all have to get Arthur drunk one day and take him bowling. Those shoes would look awesome on him, I think."

But yes, there was food to be eaten and intros to be made and a frat to be started.

"If you need either of us, we'll be around so don't hesitate to come talk to us. Meetings are typically going to be on Fridays, here in the rec room. We'll make an announcement if things change."

Hannibal was already eyeing those cheeseburgers. They looked and smelled damn good. He couldn't cook so he tended to live off the free food.

"I'd have to offer to get you some rabbits in the bowling alley to make it all more sporting," Arthur said, kindly. "Anyway, if one of you does have a particularly good story about conquering to share, don't feel inclined to keep it to yourself. That'll be all."

No one had to point Clark at the food twice. "This is already great," he decided, piling a plate full.

Chuck was all about the food.

... Well, and the people, he liked them a whole lot too, but, growing boy. Hamburgers first, meeting people in a minute. Just a minute.

"Uh, I'm Chuck, I'm fourteen... and I had a lot of champagne once at this wedding..." That counted, right? Chuck was not a big drinker, obviously.

"Oh, and I got to the end of Warcraft when it came out." Original Warcraft. If he'd discovered the current version, he probably wouldn't be here right now. It was still conquering!

Illyria had already made her suggestion, not that she'd truly expected it to be put into effect. Writing Conquer mainland on a small piece of paper would be a waste of her time.

After a moment's thought, she came up with options that might just barely suffice.

* Hunt things

* Attend violent sporting events

* Hunt things at a violent sporting event

Arthur was there. He was also plotting activities for the frat.

Chances were high that his ideas did not quite stroke with Hannibal's. Gentlemen, get your crossbows.

Cal had to admit; his eyes had been drawn toward Hot Leather Chick toward the beginning of the meeting, too, which lead to a lot of conflicted feelings about no longer seeming to be the only person in the frat with questionable content underneath.

For the sake of continuing to pretend that everything was hunky-dory and male down there, though, he'd definitely get over it...

Especially since there was nice distracting delicious food.

I totally just read that as 'YAY FART!'

YAY DYSLEXIA. It leads to inappropriate bursts of juvenile laughter.

"Illyria. Aeons. I once cleaved the top from Yog-Sothoth's skull and drank the black wine of his blood until his body was drained so empty I could thread his skin through a needle." She didn't say whether that was supposed to count for the booze or the conquering, just shrugged and glanced at the cheeseburgers.

"Cal Stephanides," he lifted a hand in a slight wave, "seventeen. I used to be able to suck down a Thermos of Averna like it was Kool-Aid in about five minutes."

Not that he'd ever, ever want to do that again. Especially not as frequently as he did.

"And I'm not sure the best thing I've ever conquered is really polite to talk about in polite society."

He ended that one with a faint grin, adding a little cockiness in hopes to avoid having to be specific. It was all pretty complicated, after all.

"... Sort of?" No, not really. Hannibal did have a fair bit to learn. "I mean, there's Orcs and Humans instead of little bitey circles... and there's a lot less dot eating. More monster crushing."
