kappa kappa gremlin meeting | after classes | friday | september 11

And here they were. His men. His frat. Arthur was happily (if idly) fiddling with his gloves while he waited for everyone to enter. The door slammed shut omniously as the last one did. "Ah," he said, "I see you've all managed to make it. Welcome to Kappa Kappa Gremlin, Fandom's first and only fraternity. We are all men here..." his eyes trailed past Illyria, "Despite appearances, and we have a reputation to uphold."

Hannibal's eyes went to Illyria at the same time, grateful that she wasn't trying to show them that she could be a man today. That had been...potentially scarring. "And since we're all men here, you don't have to hold back. No putting on a show to impress someone, no acting like someone you're not. Be a man. I'm Hannibal King, as some of you probably know. And my co-leader is..."

He looked towards Arthur at that, figuring Arthur could do his own introduction and he didn't need to incur princely wrath for speaking for him so soon.

"Arthur Pendragon," Arthur said, smoothly, "Prince of Camelot, but there's no reason for that to mean anything within these four walls, or wherever else we decide to take ourselves." Because it was hard to be princely when you were off being a Man. "Anyway, as it seems to be a hallowed tradition at this school to start things off with introductions..." He smiled, lightly. "Your name, your age, how much drink you've ever managed all at once, and the best thing you've ever conquered. Or killed on a hunt. I'm sure you can all think of something."

"And be honest," Hannibal added once Arthur had laid out the introductions guidelines. "Don't pad your total just so it seems like you're better than you are. We're all guys here--"

Well, Illyria was always going to be the exception to the rule.

"--so we'll all be respectful in that guy fashion." Which meant there'd be teasing and taunting and jokes about if size really does matter. All that awesome stuff. "Once we're done with introductions, we'll also open the floor for suggestions of what you wanna do this year. Go big, go small, go anything. Just let us know."

He tried to think of anything he'd forgotten. "Arthur? Anything you wanna add before we make with the intros?"

"Yes," Arthur said, considering his stooges people. "We'll take all suggestions but bowling. Let's save rolling rocks around for the band, shall we?" ... Arthur was not allowed to be told anything about modern times. "Finally, there are cheeseburgers, so make sure to get your share."

He pointed at the table. What? If he was going to do something like this, he'd do it right.

"Bowling's really fun when you're drunk," Hannibal felt compelled to say. "We'll all have to get Arthur drunk one day and take him bowling. Those shoes would look awesome on him, I think."

But yes, there was food to be eaten and intros to be made and a frat to be started.

"If you need either of us, we'll be around so don't hesitate to come talk to us. Meetings are typically going to be on Fridays, here in the rec room. We'll make an announcement if things change."

Hannibal was already eyeing those cheeseburgers. They looked and smelled damn good. He couldn't cook so he tended to live off the free food.

"I'd have to offer to get you some rabbits in the bowling alley to make it all more sporting," Arthur said, kindly. "Anyway, if one of you does have a particularly good story about conquering to share, don't feel inclined to keep it to yourself. That'll be all."

No one had to point Clark at the food twice. "This is already great," he decided, piling a plate full.

"Don't they have food where you come from?" Ben teased, looking up at the new guy.

Clark looked a little sheepishly at his plate. "Hey, they put it out there to be eaten, right?"

"Oh, definitely," Ben replied, filling his plate almost as high. "Did you try the crunchy orange things? Cheetos? They're completely addictive."

Beat.

"But not literally."

"You say that now," Clark replied. Yes, he'd be checking his Cheetos for funny colored rocks. "Wait until I've started eating them and you've gotta pry the bag from my hand."

"I bet I could do it," Ben said, laughing. "I'm pretty attached to them myself. I'm Ben, by the way."

"I'm Clark," he grinned, not sure anyone could. "These meetings always buffet-style?"

"They were last year," Ben said enthusiastically. "We're growing and stuff. There should always be food."

"It makes sense. Did you guys do anything frat-like last year?" Someone had heard the potential fraternities offered and still managed to show up.
momslilassassin: ([neg] Ben says "um wtf")

"We posed for a calendar." Ben sounded a little dubious about that. "It was to raise money for a satellite, but I think most of it got funneled into our Cheetos addiction."

Chuck was all about the food.

... Well, and the people, he liked them a whole lot too, but, growing boy. Hamburgers first, meeting people in a minute. Just a minute.

Cal had to admit; his eyes had been drawn toward Hot Leather Chick toward the beginning of the meeting, too, which lead to a lot of conflicted feelings about no longer seeming to be the only person in the frat with questionable content underneath.

For the sake of continuing to pretend that everything was hunky-dory and male down there, though, he'd definitely get over it...

Especially since there was nice distracting delicious food.

Ooh, food. George was so not arguing with the free food part of this meeting.

"Do you recognize half of this?" Mat asked in an undertone.

[identity profile] noearsyet.livejournal.com 2009-09-11 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
"Bloody hell, no," George admitted. "Tis a lot of gobtalk mostly."

[identity profile] bloody-luck.livejournal.com 2009-09-11 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
"Gobtalk?" Mat repeated. "That's a word I haven't heard before."

"Sorry," he said, giving an apologetic grin. "Tis a word from home. Random stuff, I mean. It does all be tastin' good so th' names don't matter."

Re: mingle [kkg 09/11]

[identity profile] bloody-luck.livejournal.com 2009-09-11 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
"I like that," Mat said, grinning back. "Where are you from?" The phrasing was almost Illianer...

"Th' Lower City of Corus," George said. "Different world an' all that, they keep tellin' me."

"Then I will agrees with the very helpful 'they' in the hopes that I'm just not really bloody terrible with geography," Mat said with a laugh.

He grinned back. "Aye, twas my logic in accepting it as well." He offered his hand. "'M George Cooper."

Andros had no idea why he was actually here, but he figured that as long as it got him off the Megaship then at least DECA would have no reason to hound him over constantly spending his time on the ship.

He helped himself to some of the food and looked around.
