Third Floor Common Room - Saturday Afternoon

As much as he hated being that guy who did work in public, Chuck found that his room had too much porn too many distractions to really get anything done. And he really had to get stuff done. That parents thingamawhatsit was in a few weeks and Chuck had to make sure his bars would be something worth showing his father. So he took his laptop with him to the common room and settled down on the couch.

Well he couldn't work without background noise so he started channel surfing. The first thing that came up was that stupid Jonas Brothers show. As if he was watching that. So he went up a channel. The Werewolf Journals. Chuck was fairly sure he needed to be high to enjoy that.

Another channel. The Valley. Uh, no, not watching that.

Another one. Dusk. Not that either, thank you.

And another one. Rumor Gal. Oh hell no.

At that point Chuck threw the remote against the couch and groaned. "Great, I get the TV that has been possessed by a thirteen year old girl."

"Some people," she said, and shrugged. "How do I know what you consider a good time?"

"Well here I thought the gossip would do the work for me when it came to people knowing what I do for fun," Chuck told her. He sighed. "I guess the squirrels aren't doing their jobs right."

Gossip Girl was always so much more reliable.

"Guess not." Or Effy just didn't pay a whole lot of attention to gossip. One or the other. "Never can tell when what you hear is the truth anyway."

"In my experience most gossip has some shred of truth to it," Chuck said. "And the full truth tends to be even worse than the gossip."

"So, dare I ask, what exactly you do for fun?" she said, leaning back. "Other than make money and buy bars."

"Oh, you know, drinking, smoking, sex." Chuck shrugged. "Your average hobbies."

"Do know a few people with a very similar list," she said, smirking a little. She was one of them, even.

"Suppose this island works pretty well for you."

"I can get away with whatever I want here, that's for sure." Chuck shrugged. "It can get boring though. Then again, I'm used to living in New York City."

"Even Bristol is more interesting than here." So the difference for him between here and New York, had to be quite one to get used to.

"Is it?" Chuck asked. "That's one area of England I never made it to. Are you saying I should skip over it next time I'm there?"

"Best parties outside London," she said, shrugging. "But, it's still fucking Bristol." And she grew up with it, so she'd been there and done that when it came to most of it.
