Girls with Guns [Wednesday after classes]

Triela was operating under the assumption that if she concentrated hard enough on appearing normal no one would notice, or at the very least no one would comment on, the fact that her hair was down and she was wearing a suit with a skirt and leggings instead of her usual dress slacks.

She was a tiny bit uncomfortable with the whole situation, of course, but she'd survived worse. Besides, it was gun club, and she loved gun club!

"I'm going to try to go over a few different weapons during our upcoming meetings. Most of you are most familiar with handguns, and that's fine. There's no reason to feel the need to learn about some of the other options. But I want to cover them just in case anyone's curious."

"As I said, most of you have hand guns. That's basically as small as a gun can usefully get, and that makes them really convenient. It's easy to carry and conceal a handgun, and they're still guns so they still do what you need to if you get into a fight. But they make larger weapons for a reason, so today we're going to talk a bit about sub-machine guns."

"The sub-machine gun is basically a scaled-up pistol. It uses the same sort of ammunition a pistol does, but it's designed to hold more rounds, fire faster, and maintain accuracy at longer ranges." She held up an unloaded H&K UMP 45. "The longer barrel gives the bullet more power and range when it's fired, but the weapon is still short enough to be highly maneuverable. Notice that most of the added length is in the direction of the body so that it doesn't extend much farther than a pistol would."

"If anyone wants to experiment with some of the SMGs I have, don't hesitate to ask for one. But, like I said, if you want to stick with what you know, don't feel like you can't."

She flashed a quick grin. "Now let's get to it."

Dinah showed up after her 5th Period class, still a little unnerved, although she immediately brightened when she saw Triela's new style. Yay!

Tahiri was here, of course, though still quiet and . . . kind of staying away from the guns, actually. She thought she might not stick around today, but she was at least going to give it a try.

Dinah waved when she saw her, and gave her a half-smile, still not entirely back to being herself. "Hey. How's it going?"

Triela was torn. On the one hand she had hoped no one would notice. On the other hand... she did like getting compliments. "It was a dare."

Claire stopped by, dressed in workout clothes.

"Hey, Triela, I can't stay today. Cheerleading tryouts!"

"You'd rather do that than come to gun club?" Triela teased, obviously amused.

"Triela!" There was a quick patter-patter and then a huge *GLOMP*, as Momoko came from... somewhere. "I looove your hair down! And you look good in that skirt! You should wear it more often! Well, not necessarily that skirt but skirts in general! Hi! Can I borrow a gun?"

No sugar, she was just really happy to be back.

Okay, some sugar.

"Did someone let you have sugar again?" Triela asked, too overwhelmed by Momoko's energy to be anything other than charmed and amused at the rapid rush of: hug, compliments, and request. She didn't even have time to blush at the fact that her skirt and hair had gotten commented upon.

"And... I suppooooose you could borrow a gun. If you're really gooood."

Dinah actually wasn't too fond of the SMGs. Something very similar had been used to kill her mom. But. Better to know how to handle it, then face it again and be scared. She'd had enough of that today.

Very careful experimentation was going on, getting it to work and stop.

The advisor, who certainly was hot, was there with his rifle, idly cleaning it while he made certain that the kids didn't blow themselves up.

He'd probably take a closer look at the submachine guns later. His curiosity was certainly trying to get the better of him today.
