Third Floor Common Room, Late Wednesday Morning

Kate hadn’t slept well, and was feeling pretty cranky. As a result, she didn’t really feel like dealing with people. She wouldn’t have come into the common room at all if she hadn’t thought that something there was going to make her feel better.

Namely, the vanilla jello pudding cups she’d bought the day before and stored in the common room fridge for the night.

And which she couldn’t find anymore. Because just half an hour earlier, little blue men had taken them with them.

”Who the fuck stole my pudding?!” It was safe to say that Kate was not happy.

"Vanilla is awesome. That's all the education you need." She took a sip of coffee, and a moment to think about it. "...No wait. Actually, it's better if you like something else. People keep eating my puddings because they like vanilla too."

"People?" he asked, picking up a piece of bread, then turned the TV on, switching to the Discovery channel.

"Aunt Charmaine and T, mostly. Back home," she replied, picking up a piece of dried fruit. "I haven't really had much pudding here. Not having a fridge in the room makes things difficult."

"The common room is too far away?" he teased her.

[vanillajello]

"That too." It was! "But mostly because storing stuff here can lead to missing foodstuffs. As we've seen today."

[future_sandworm]

"Are you suggesting the little blue men are not to blame or that they are regular inhabitants?" He grinned.

[Night!]

"I'm just saying that along with the normal dorm danger of people eating your food, we have extra dangers here. Like blue goddamn thieving bastards," she replied. "Who I so hope are not regular inhabitants."

"At least it wasn't your clothes," Leto pointed out. "I need to buy some new shirts."

"Did they seriously take all your shirts?" Kate asked. "That's just plain mean. Of course, for deliciously selfish reasons I don't entirely mind that they did." She smirked.

[future_sandworm]

He glanced at her, an eyebrow raised. "Is that so? If they end up stealing all your shirts I'll point out something similar to you."

"If they steal my shirts, I'll just borrow one from Bobby," she said. "...And if they steal all of his, too, I'm just going to stay in my room."

"The advantage of having a roommate," he snorted. "Stay in your room? Without the puddings?"

[vanillajello]

"Shirtlessness is a bigger problem than puddinglessness," she noted, picking up a piece of bread from her plate. "For a while, at least."

"Wrapping yourself in a blanket wouldn't be a solution?"

[vanillajello]

"Can I just say no, and pretend I have a reason for it? Because it's way too embarrassing to admit I didn't even think of that," Kate said, making a face. "I'm dumb today."

"And I'm just enjoying teasing you," Leto grinned.

"You're a bad man, Leto Atreides," she told him mock-disapprovingly.

[future_sandworm]

"It has taken you until now to notice that?" he teased back.

[vanillajello]

"What can I say? I'm a very trusting person. Innocent, even."

[future_sandworm]

He sighed, laughing softly. "Yes, of course you are." He pushed her shoulder with the palm of his hand.

She beamed at him in what was meant to be an innocent and adorable fashion. It still betrayed how tired she was, though.

"I think you need to get some sleep, Kate," Leto chuckled.

[vanillajello]

"I know. I think I'm taking a nap after this," Kate replied. "Or you know, I call it a nap now, but then I'll sleep until, like, 6 PM and mess up my rhythm for the rest of the week."

"Don't worry," he replied. "I can wake you up later." Oh, there was a look of mischief in his eyes.

"There's about a 50 % chance I'll try to kill you if you do," she said, one eyebrow raised, an amused expression on her face. "Emphasis on try, of course. I get cranky when people wake me up."
