Third Floor Common Room, Late Wednesday Morning

Kate hadn’t slept well, and was feeling pretty cranky. As a result, she didn’t really feel like dealing with people. She wouldn’t have come into the common room at all if she hadn’t thought that something there was going to make her feel better.

Namely, the vanilla jello pudding cups she’d bought the day before and stored in the common room fridge for the night.

And which she couldn’t find anymore. Because just half an hour earlier, little blue men had taken them with them.

”Who the fuck stole my pudding?!” It was safe to say that Kate was not happy.

"I thought breakfast was purpose enough," he replied. "And yourself? I assume your reason for being here is not to look at me." Yes, he was still amused by the conversation.

"Purpose enough," she leaned her head back. She didn't turn her eyes away, he was the one walking without a shirt not her. "I was hoping for rest after my training. You were never in the agenda."

"So, what do you train?" Leto asked. He didn't necessarily mind the looking, but it did contradict her complaining a little.

She hadn't been complaining, she'd been observing. She doubted he could keep quiet if a woman walked in shirtless.

"Shaolin Kung-fu Firebending," Azula answered. "Some hand-to-hand."

Oh, he could, but he might choose not to.

"Firebending? I haven't heard of it," Leto replied. "But we could spar sometime if you like."

"I'll be at a disadvantaged with your speed," Azula answered. She'd fought the Avatar, he was an Airbender but these Atreides could give the Avatar a run for his money.

Of course it will lead to this question, "I create and manipulate fire. It's not magic."

"You can learn from being at a disadvantage," he said. "How do control fire?"

"Perhaps but not at the moment," Azula said, "I like to study how things work before I proceed."

"I'm Fire Nation, people born from the Fire Nation have the potential to create fire. But not all Fire Nation can."

"Your choice," he said, then nodded. "So, a genetic ability?"

"More or less, it's complicated to explain part-genetics, part-spirituality, part-inner drive and part other things I'm too bored to explain to a non-Firebender."

"Too bored, this early?" he teased her.

"Fascinating, isn't it?" Mai would be so proud at how bored she was right now.

"I'd say no, but clearly we disagree on that matter," he replied.

Azula smirked, "Well, I think that would be it then, we agree to disagree."

She studied him, "But I would like to take you on a spar without powers. I'm pretty handy with hand-to-hand combat."

'Pretty handy' being a loose interpretation of 'very, very good'.

"That's always an option," Leto replied, assuming that pretty handy was a bit of an understatement.

"Glad to see we could agree," Azula said.

"On something, at least," he said. "I assume you're taking my sister's class."

"No, but she's offered to help me over some things."

"Ah, I see," he said. He wasn't going to ask what; that was none of his business.

Azula appreciated that and because of it nodded her head at him and a slight quirk of the corners of her mouth.

"Good luck hunting for your shirts."

"Thank you for your concern," he replied, grinning, then headed back to the kitchen area for another cup of coffee.
