Magic Reserves, Wednesday Afternoon, Preserve Near The Cabins
There was even more food piled on the tables than usual today. Karla had taken the term 'comfort food' to new and interesting heights--specifically the tower of cupcakes from J,Gob. There was also a new beverage joining the ranks of coffee, tea, and juice: mulled cider, kept warm by little tongues of witchfire. There wasn't the traditional alcohol in there yet, but after the meeting broke up, if there was any left, odds were pretty good she'd be adding some.
"Hey everyone," she said, trying to sound friendly and enthusiastic and falling rather flat. "Good to see you. Uhhh..."
Having quickly run out of words, she looked to Tony or Merlin to take up the conversation.
Merlin stepped forward, smiling in hopes of distracting people with hisears bit of the speech.
...alright, and his ears.
"We'll be learning from you today, those who volunteered last week will be sharing a little bit about their abilities. Won't that be
fun?" He asked, sounding a bit like an overly excited pre-school teacher.
"Or at least useful, we hope," Tony said. "... okay, I feel like we should have an animated logo and jingle here. 'The More You Know!' But think about ways these guys' abilities could work with yours, or see if you can come up with an unusual way for them to use their powers."
Karla was confused by the reference, but wasn't particularly concerned. "In that case, I'd like to welcome Raven and Leda to come up and share. Also, you guys totally get first dibs on the cupcakes for being brave."

It was really a shame she got frosting on her nose in trying to eat it.

But look! Pancakes! Win! She smiled encouragingly at Karla and then loaded up her plate.
Also a cupcake and cider.

Looking. Looking. Because being depressed by the cupcakes seemed somehow better than being terrified that sooner or later, they would expect him to demonstrate, too.
Bloody hell.

Raven's Talk/Questions for Raven
Re: Raven's Talk/Questions for Raven
"First and foremost, as most of you know, I am an empath," Raven said. "I am able to sense emotion and other physical sensations, like pain, and if necessary, take them into myself. I am able, for example, to take fear away and replace it with a feeling of comfort or calm. I heal this way, by taking pain and damage into myself and banishing it elsewhere. I have yet to encounter something I could not heal." Jono.
And yes, she was quite proud of that fact, totally not believing she would ever be proved wrong some day.
She lifted her arms and summoned her Soul-Self. The large shadow-raven rose from her shoulders and began to fly in a circle high above the clearing. "I am also able to separate my soul from my physical body," she went on, "though I am able to retain conscious thought in my body while my soul is elsewhere. I see and experience what it does, and may also use it as a physical shield to protect myself and others." Her Soul-Self flew back down and wrapped itself around Raven, momentarily hiding her from view, then disappeared back into Raven's body.
She raised her arms again and vanished in a burst of black smoke, reappearing a second later on the other side of the clearing. The smoke disappeared as quickly as it came. "I may teleport myself over great distances, even between dimensions," Raven said. "And with my Soul-Self, I may take others with me. I also have some small skill with sorcery and precognition, but there are many who are much more powerful than I in those regards."
Before she finished, she touched her fingers to the red gem upon her forehead. "This jewel is my chakra," she said. "I was born with it, and it helps me to control my powers."
Her other gifts? She didn't know about yet. Like, say, being an embodiment of the sin of Pride.
Raven looked around at the group, then ducked her head shyly. "Do you have any questions for me?" she asked.
Leda's Talk/Questions for Leda
Re: Leda's Talk/Questions for Leda
"Okay. Well I don't know how many of you have Elves where you're from. Either for real or just in stories. But we're known for having powerful magic. Some of that is...what's the word, apocryphal. Cause not all Elves can do the kinds of things people attribute to us. Especially not in the Borderlands where I'm from.
"But depending on how creative you are..." This was sounding lame to her. "I mean I've heard some pretty wild stories..." No. Fuck the speech.
"Well I can do a few things. I can create illusions." She demonstrated by making an image of a man on a motorcycle appear. Those looking could hear the engine, and even smell the exhaust. He rode a little ways and then vanished. "Okay remind me not to go all out like that without some practice first." she said. "It's a lot harder to do one that affects more than one sense like that. One at a time is easiest. Phantom smells, sounds, images, that sort of thing. I've never tried one that you could touch, though it's possible in theory."
Next she made an energy ball appear in her hand. "I can also fire blasts of magical energy of varying intensities." The ball disappeared.
"And dunno how it would be useful in combat situations but I can animate things that resemble animals or people. Like animal crackers or Gingerbread men. Mostly that's just fun. And I could change my hair color with magic back home too.
"There's other things I suppose I could do in a situation like we're preparing for, I've just never tried them."
She really had heard some freaky stories though.
