2nd Floor Common Room - Thursday Evening

Them hockey players just happened to be on the television again when George  - and Beka-the-terrier - wandered down to the Common Room.   It was a shock, really, and totally not planned at all.

Beka flopped down on the couch, covering her eyes with her paws.  George didn't much mind that as it meant for once she wasn't trying to bite him for something she'd decided he was doin' wrong.  Being bitten would have distracted him from watching the little men skate around the ice.

"Hey George," Jennifer said, plopping down into a seat. She actually kicked off her shoes. and loosened the top button of her blouse - she was still dressed business like from work. "How are you?"

'Not undressing' was swiftly discarded as an appropriate answer as George nodded to her.

"'M good," he said easily. "Are ye too hot?"

"A little," Jennifer said. "Just more sort of... too lazy to go up to my room to change."

"Where did ye come from?" he asked.

The concept of different clothes for different parts of the day still didn't really click with him, no.

"Work," Jennifer said. "At the law offices. Have to be extra professional there."

"Why?" he asked. "Does it make ye work harder?"

"Sort of," Jennifer said. "It also looks better if anyone comes in seeking legal advice."

Given that he didn' have a clue that th' legal advice was supposed to be for, George just nodded. "Do they often do that?"

"...stop in?" Jennifer said. "Ummm, no. At least, not as much as I want."

"Mayhap they don' wanna pay fer advice?" he suggested.

"Possible," Jennifer said. "But I guess people don't get into much legal trouble here."

"Some of us don' mind it so much," George said lightly.

Beka lifted her head off her paws and rolled her eyes at that.

"You like trouble?" Jennifer said. "Oh, how could I have ever known." She grinned.

"Hi," Maron called, waving one arm over the edge of the chair she was slouched down in. "I suppose I don't rate a greeting?"

Her voice made it utterly clear that she was joking.

"Sorry," Jennifer said, sheepish. "He's my little sib."

"I don't really mind," Maron admitted, pushing herself up to peer through her hair to glance over. "I was just teasing you. You're his school-assigned sib, then? You don't talk like him."

"Forsooth, what gave you that impression?" Jennifer joked. "School assigned. George is great, though."

"I agree," she said, laughing. "I haven't gotten one yet, but if I did, I'd like a nice one."

Well. This was Maron. She liked nice people.

"Well, we're almost to a new term, right?" Jennifer said. "You could snag one then."

"I might," Maron answered, looking thoughtful. "Though then there's a chance that you'd get someone that you didn't like and wouldn't that be an awful mess?"

"I haven't had that problem yet," Jennifer said. "George and Didi are just great."

"I don't think I've met Didi," she admitted, making a face at that. "But that's definitely lucky for you! Maybe I'll have to steal your luck?"

"You're welcome to it," Jennifer said. "I think two was more than enough for me."

"Do they take up a great deal of your time?" Maron asked curiously. "It doesn't seem that they would, no offense..."

"Oh, no," Jennifer said. "But it's not like I want to make my own... metaed Brady Bunch or anything."
