The Salle, Monday Morning

It was a typical Monday morning, involving no birds (thank God) or other mishaps so far. And so, Arthur (and Merlin) were in the salle, one handling a sword with deadly precision, the other... not handling a sword with deadly precision, despite inferences Katchoo may have made the previous night.

Ahem.

His sword flickered through the air, landing on either side of the dummy. He twisted and turned and struck again.

Merlin wielded a pretty mean book! There was that, right?

Look, he had to catch up after this past week, after all. He was even multi-tasking as the armor was being polished just to his left.

Dinah got into the salle on time no matter what her mun was doing and waved to Arthur and Merlin on the way in, then stopped and grinned. "Merlin! Yay for not being a bird any more!"

"Very yay," Merlin replied, looking up from his book and waving.

"At least this time there was-- more room?" she offered, thinking of Leto's annoyance and actions last time. "And not such a shock. Although you can't just think yourself back? That's got to be inconvenient." Dinah picked up one of the practice swords, imitated Arthur's wrist twirl, and went into her forms.

"If I knew how, trust me, it would have happened the first night," Merlin assured her.

Dinah grinned. "I was too distracted to think of it while I was a kitten, but, well. Kitten." Things to eat and sniff and bite and chase and elude and torment! "Did you still want to learn more computer stuff, later this week, maybe?" Cut, slash, guard, footwork, footwork.

"This weekend, perhaps?" Merlin suggested. "I have classes and lessons with Lady Ghanima this week to make up."

"That works," Dinah said easily. "Whenever's good for you." Another cut, another advance, and another step sideways. "Knock wood, or wish on a star, or whatever, that we're both bipedal and able to talk then."

[identity profile] bigdamndestiny.livejournal.com 2009-11-17 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
"...do you think that would work?"

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-11-17 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
Dinah flashed a grin over her shoulder. "Maybe for you? You're the magic one. I'm just gonna have to hope I get lucky." Not that she was terribly worried about it. "And plan for it if it ever happens." She shot Arthur a glance, and said, "So, you were hanging out with Arthur this time?"

Not to accuse Arthur of chivalry or anything.

"And Francine sometime," Merlin replied, marking his place in the book. "But Arthur has his falconry glove and all that so it was easier for him."

And no one could mentioned him being kind or else he'd have to hit someone and kick a puppy or something.

Not that Zack couldn't take that, but still! Appearances, they had to be maintained.

"Just looking out for his interests," Dinah said knowingly. "I mean, if you'd clawed someone else on accident, they'd just come and complain to him about it anyway. Right?"

[identity profile] bigdamndestiny.livejournal.com 2009-11-17 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
Merlin blinked, turning his attention back to the book. "Yes. Exactly that."

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-11-17 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
Dinah quickly added, "Not that you would have. I mean, you didn't when we were watching TV. Furniture's a way better perch. And it wouldn't have been your boss's fault. Friend's fault." Not that Arthur admitted things like that.

"That's not how things work, though," Merlin replied, shaking his head and smiling vaguely. "But it was better to just stay in his room or out hunting."

And flying. The flying was much more fun.

"Sadly true," Dinah grumbled, thinking of Leto again, and then smiled. "Oh wow, did you catch stuff while you had wings?" She made a sudden face. "Tell me it wasn't crickets." Bleeeah, what a memory.

"Rabbits, actually." Delicious, delicious rabbits.

...probably not the best to think about it.

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-11-17 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
Yeeeeah, best not.

"I ate roast rabbit leg this summer." And liked it. And felt so, so guilty. "But yeah. Glad you're back and you can have popcorn and cookies. Breakfast of champions."

[identity profile] bigdamndestiny.livejournal.com 2009-11-17 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
"And marshmallows." Oh dear god, he'd need to learn to summon them or something.
