Sixth Floor Kitchen - Tuesday night - 11/17
Liir had considered doing his work in the common room kitchen, but he'd come to enjoy the space and the utilities available up on the sixth floor.
...plus Makejoy really liked to wander around and sniff at the newly renovated floors, the new furnishing, and all the different things while he worked, which was a lovely distraction whenever he was doing something that didn't require too much of his attention.
Today's work was caramels, something he'd only really done once and even then as more of an experiment than anything. Swirling them with other things, covering them with chocolate, flavoring them with liquor; some of them came out well, while a few of his experiments just hadn't quite panned out. Either way, the sugary sweetness on the air was almost as satisfying as twisting the wax paper around the best results.
[open and HI BACK AGAIN]

[open and HI BACK AGAIN]

Especially when it would give her an excuse for being up late other than nightmares.
She paused at the door and grinned at the sight of Liir then knelt and wriggled her fingers at Makejoy. She was Totally Being Sneaky by not saying hi.

Liir, on the other hand, continued watching the candy thermometers.

"Do you think," she mock-whispered to the dog, "that he'd notice if I snuck you out of here?"
no subject
"I would most certainly notice that," he said without turning his head, "and I'd start to think you only like me for my dog. Then I'd have to hole up in my room and declare myself an utter failure as a human being. You know how it goes."
Then, because it was Liir.
"That was a joke, by the way."

He didn't turn for long, but he threw her a smile... and tried not to blink at how tired she looked.
The dog, for her part, followed along and licked at Ino's hand.

(She'd hug him after, and kidnap his cooking. MMM.)
"You were clear as crystal," she assured him brightly. "At least that time, so no fear 'bout that."
no subject
"I'm working on caramels," he told her, "but I made some summer ice earlier today."
no subject
Because that was totally an unbiased opinion.
no subject
"That would be why I made summer ice and chocolate cookies earlier today."
Then he glanced over.
"Also, I'm experimenting. You might like one of these."
no subject
"Cookies!" she cheered. Shush. "And how're you experimenting?"
She was, however, dubious about the idea that she'd like them.

"Cooking dooork," Ino informed him. "Do you think it's going well? Have you been sampling?"
no subject
"Of course. It's part of the, well, the perks, I suppose. So far, I'm quite satisfied with some, think a few are too runny, and found one could probably pass for gum."
no subject
Because Ino was the best person ever to lecture on patience. Really.
She stifled a yawn. "Where'd you hide to cookies, please?"
Since her eye level was currently a lot shorter than usual thanks to sitting on the floor.

No, it probably wasn't. But for her purposes, sure.
"You know," she continued, "we haven't, or at least, I haven't been flying for a good while."
no subject
"And no, we haven't gone for a flight for a time. I haven't gone on my own either. It... felt odd. After, well, after the visitor's weekend."
no subject
Ino considered that. "Anything I can do to help? I mean, uh, it's your broom now, after all."
no subject
"I know," he said once his mind was re-engaged.
"And you're right. And--"
He breathed out.
"I should enjoy it more, really. It's just strange. Loaded. But we should go out."
no subject
"You know, nothing ever changes if you just avoid it," she said, nodding. "And if you're uncomfortable then that's something that should be changed."
no subject
"I'm more likely to do it just to spite her in absentia, but you have a point."
no subject
no subject
"So when should we take this flight?"
