Cheerleading Practice - The Gym (after classes)

A few weeks ago, Sam had been worried about being involved in so many things. Now, he was grateful to have a variety of activities with which to distract himself, which was why he was at the gym so early setting out the mats and music for practice. Maybe if he didn't act like he was grieving, he could pretend there was nothing to grieve about.

It's good for you!

Hannibal...probably should not have had beer before cheerleading practice. He was going to blame Jason for that. For now, though, he was doing to be flat on his back, welcoming his lethargy and hoping he hadn't drunk enough to be hungover tomorrow.

Priestly was a little distracted through warm ups, today. His brain was full of lovely fantasies of running his own kitchen in New York filled with wacky characters and hot support staff. Also with Thanksgiving menus and all the ways that being sous-chef for the hot teacher could go horribly, horribly wrong.

Priestly's brain could be a very bipolar place, at times.

Sam was sitting down and stretching out, but it was clearly a half-hearted effort. He could only keep himself mentally distracted for so long before his mind started to wander again.

Robin noticed that Sam seemed a bit distracted. "Hi Sam! Everything okay?"

"Oh, hey Robin," Sam said, putting on a small, fake smile. "Um, yeah, everything's fine."

Yeah, that was totally convincing.

"You sure?"

Sam nodded. "I've just...been having a really bad month," he said.

"Do you want to talk about it?"

Maron was stretching out with her usual care and wondering what had gotten into the rest of the group they seemed a bit--out of it? Maybe?

Robin of course was very flexible, but stretched anyway.

It's why we're here!

"If any of you guys are going to be around for Thanksgiving, there is going to be a dinner here headed by Ms. Tatou," Sam said. "I don't know exactly how we can help, since the cooking class is taking care of the food, but I'm sure we can think of something if people want to, or is there something else we'd like to do instead?"

"If there's free food, I'm there," Hannibal volunteered. "We can help eat it?"

Smart one, that Hannibal.

"Wait staff!" Priestly said cheerfully. "They're totally like the cheerleaders of a restaurant, right?"

"They're something like that," Sam said, with a bit of a smirk. "If there's a lot of people around, guest wranglers might not be a bad idea."

"And, like . . . hosts or whatever. It sounds fancier than 'guest wranglers'."

"Ms. Tatou would probably like fancier, wouldn't she?" Sam agreed.

Priestly shrugged. "She's French."

Elena raised her hand, feeling like a dork. For so many reasons.

"What is this Thanksgiving thing, anyway?"

"Oh. Um, it's an American holiday," Sam said. "I mean, they celebrate it in other countries, but at different times. Next Thursday is when it's celebrated here, to commemorate the people who settled here and met the Native Americans and got food so they wouldn't die. Basically, it's a holiday designed around eating as much food as you possibly can without getting sick."

"You guys have holidays all the time," Elena said. Not complaining, just amused. "Most of them usually have something else going besides the food, though."

"Well, you're supposed to give thanks for what you have, like the settlers gave thanks to the Native Americans for feeding them," Sam said. "But really, it's about the food and starting up the Christmas season."

When he pings in!

Ronon could sense that he was going to end up working this holiday meal thing. No biggie so long as he got to gnaw on a turkey leg.

You know you like to watch!

This warm weather is totally throwing off my holiday sense. *shakes fist*
