The Salle, Monday Morning

It was a Monday.

It had been a normal weekend.

Arthur, ergo, was in the salle, practicing his staffwork for once. He did have a battle with Mat due tomorrow which was going to be pushed towards next week due to a sudden case of the fox, SPOILERS and it wouldn't do to show up in anything but perfect fighting shape.

He made for a few impressive sweeps through the air as he practiced, showing off for his (Merlin-y) audience as usual.

"...So my choices are sparring with you or dinner?"

Arthur grinned at him. "Pick one."

Merlin shot him a look. "Where is the dinner?"

"Oh, we have, what, six 'restaurants' on the island?" Arthur said, shooting him a look straight back, "Surely you've wishes." Beat. "But not the sushi."

Merlin made a face. "Eew. Fish shouldn't be eaten raw."

"I still can't believe you actually ate some." Beat. "Actually, I can..."

"I didn't realize! They were eating it!"

Oh, Arthur was just way too amused by all that.

"So no sushi," he established, once he'd finished badly surpressing his grin. "Too much danger of you wandering into the world of raw fish and never coming out. There's the Thai."

Merlin thought that over. "Thai would be interesting to try."

"So a Thai 'date' with me," Arthur said, thoughtfully, "Or sparring. Or sitting on a bench mulling over your iPhone. Tough choice, I'd say."

"I think we can manage a date" Merlin informed him with a solemn nod.

"Good." Not so solemn, that one. "Wednesday. After reserves."

"Meet you there?"

[bitchprince]

"If you manage to find it without getting lost."

Merlin rolled his eyes and shoved at Arthur's arm. "Ass."

"I'm fairly sure that is vastly illegal," Arthur said, eying his arm. There really was amusement in his voice, though.

"It doesn't make it any less true."

Arthur's eyebrows raised in clear affront, and he suddenly nudged Merlin back with his shoulder.

Merlin smirked and shoved him back. As you do.

Which just meant matters had to escalate into a headlock, right?

"OI!" Merlin shoved at his arm, trying to escape and failing.

Arthur smirked down at the top of his head. "Totally and utterly illegal," he said, "Hmm. Should I give you a pardon for it?"

"You are taking liberties!"

Because that would work.

"You hit me first," Arthur reminded him, cheerfully, and reached over with three fingers to fluff a bit of his hair up to stand up. His arm did relax a tad after.
