3rd Floor Common Room [Tuesday Evening]

The last couple weeks, Bobby had kept mostly to himself, not feeling his usual social self. Having a robo-baby to take care of had actually sort of helped with that, in so far as it'd given him something to keep busy with.

With his birthday coming up tomorrow, though, he figured now was as good a time as any to try and turn his mood around, so he had a pile of sugary junk food in the common room and was watching some special about monkeys on television.

Kennedy was feeling really social these days, apparently, and in the sort of mood to wander down to another common room, flop into a chair, and snag a chocolate bar.

"Yo, Boy Scout. Haven't seen you in a while."

Kennedy snickered, sympathetically. "You're in that class too, huh? How's your robot kid?"

Because Kennedy was such a good judge of that. "I think if there was no pooping, you might have a problem on your hands. Don't look at me; I wasn't around for much of that part with my kid sister." Pause. "Half-sister."

"Was for a while," Kennedy said, mostly casually. "Then Dad got married again. What made you think that?"

Possibly your occasionally insufferable attitude, Kennedy. Just maybe.

"Oh, yeah?" Kennedy could, on occasion, work the eyebrow, which she was doing right now. "What kind of something?"

Wow. You'd think she'd heard some variant on that explanation before. Who knew?

You might also think she wasn't terribly bothered by it, in which case you'd be right on two counts.

The Eyebrow of Oh, Really disappeared pretty quickly, though, followed by an easy grin and an unrepentant, "You're saying I don't act like somebody who's ever had to share, huh?"

"And then something changed," Kennedy began, tilting her head slightly at the brief lapse in his expression. "Well, at least it didn't make you boring."

"Sounds crazy," Kennedy said, half-distantly, in that I don't really know how to relate to that way. "Or maybe cheesy. I haven't decided. I don't have anybody like that. Just Constance."
brat_inslayage: (Um. Oops?)

Kennedy made a grab for the popcorn and only succeeded in batting it toward the TV. "Yeah, she's my... mentor, I guess," she explained, not really sure she should go into the whole Watcher thing with him. "Sort of a private tutor, sort of a coach, kind of a pain in my ass, but..."

She smiled, one of her rarer, introspective smiles. "She knows me better than my dad does, that's for damn sure. Sure as hell knows me more than my stepmom, or Janelle."

Yeah, details. Like it had not occurred to Kennedy at all that the Watchers' Council might not be above that level of trickery if they thought it was warranted.

She snagged a couple of Tootsie Rolls off the table and tossed one to him. "Kids from Westchester County gotta stick together, I guess, huh? That's freaky, Bobby. Stop having stuff in common with me."
brat_inslayage: (Hmm)

[personal profile] brat_inslayage 2009-12-02 07:48 am (UTC)(link)
Kennedy shrugged broadly. "Taking that as a given. That's why it's not too freaky. Yet."
