So, it was December. That had been obvious enough when Alex had woken up to find his room littered with tiny Christmas trees. Never one to be all about Christmas, he'd rounded them up and shoved them in Griff's bed. Out of sight, out of mind.

Of course, coming down to the common room proved no better. There were Christmas trees here and there too and they made Alex scowl. He ignored them for the most part, only paying them attention to toss them off the couch so he could flop down and sprawl out. Now, he just needed to find something to watch that wasn't a Christmas movies.

Seriously, he didn't want to watch sappy love stories or old men learning suddenly having a change of heart all because they got haunted. Pass. The television wasn't being much help and he eventually settled on a stupid game show he'd watched before.

Well, now he'd spend his time irritated at stupid people and their inability to solve easy puzzles. Better than Christmas cheer.

"I've never had this holiday, and I thought this one was kind of pretty in its own way," Adora explained. "And foul language is just unnecessary where there are perfectly good ways to explain without it."

"Foul language is a fucking right," he said, rolling his eyes. "You the language police all the sudden?"

"No," Adora shrugged. "I just see no need." Being as she came from a 80s children's cartoon world that didn't have it. "Does it make you happy?"

What was it with people and asking if he was happy lately? He shook his head. "It doesn't make me anything. It's just how I talk. Would you change your way of talking if someone took offense?"

"Yes," Adora replied. It was true, she would do just about anything to make others more comfortable. "But I suppose I wouldn't expect it of others."

"You would really change if someone just asked you to?" Alex asked, raising an eyebrow. "That's kind of a pansy way to do things."

"If they had a good enough reason, why wouldn't I do something to make a friend happier?" Oh the confused look he got.

"Who cares if they're happy if you're fucking miserable," Alex said. "If they're a friend, they can learn to live with it."

"But if it didn't make me miserable?" He was such a curious boy. Far more interesting than the stupid show.

"Still means changing yourself just because someone asked," Alex said, shrugging. "Seems stupid. If I change, it's because I want to, not because someone asked."

"Then there you are!" Adora grinned. "I would completely want to, even if I was asked."

"Strange," Alex said, shaking his head. "I wouldn't want to if someone asked. I'd be contrary and decide not to change ever if someone asked."

"Do you always do the opposite of what you're asked?" Adora inquired, lifting one sculpted eyebrow at him.

"Depends on my mood," he said, shrugging. "Do you always do what everyone else asks?"

"Usually," Adora shrugged. "Unless it's someone I wouldn't consider a friend." Alex was so lucky to be a friend!

"Pushover," he said and shook his head. "People are going to take advantage of you."

"No one has ever taken advantage of me," Adora told him, head held high. "And I would never expect them to. Do you take advantage a lot?"

Alex didn't quite believe that but refrained from saying so. "I take opportunities where I see them."

So, yes. Sometimes he did.

"Hmm," Adora got all thinky. "Will you share an example?"

"An example of where I took an opportunity because it was there?" Alex asked. If that was what she wanted, he was going to have to fight to not say something dirty.

"Yes, unless you don't feel like sharing, in which case I will understand and we can talk about why these people insist on spinning when the answer is clearly right there for them." She should never watch Wheel.

"I don't mind sharing, I just wanted to make sure I knew what you were asking," he said, shrugging again. "I took advantage of that week awhile back when everyone just wanted to jump everyone else."

"Oooh," Adora got a little wistful at the memory. Good times with a steady boyfriend.

"Yes, that was a, um, very good week."

"That's an example," Alex said, shrugging. "Beneficial for me, beneficial for the girl I was with."
