Just like yesterday, Dr. Alex Karev was back in the clinic, tending to the sick, the comatose, the pregnant, and the people that just needed a place to conveniently socialize. The exam rooms were still curtained off and no named nurses were going back and forth, checking on those that had been admitted. The waiting room was blessedly empty and Alex was kicked back behind the desk, writing on a clipboard and looking very busy as one usually is in a hospital.

His pager was blissfully quiet and Alex was grateful for the momentary downtime. Being a doctor was a tough job.

[second verse, same as the first. bring me your tired, your hungry, your comatose, your whatever! alex has a bad bedside manner (unless you're a girl or griff, apparently) so feel free to play off that. ocd is up! come in!]

This post didn't take nearly as long as last night, thankfully.

In her bed, Angela slumbered peacefully on. Overnight her hair had grown six inches and turned platinum blond; that only added to her frail, still beauty.

Dr. Lily was back on call today! She wanted to be sure to see all the patients today, to make sure they didn't have terrible rare diseases in addition to their comas.

Could Robin be in recovery for having his brain transplanted into that of a stuffed frog?

Mirax had woken up with a new sense of determination. Today was the day she found out who she really was. True, she didn't remember how to even start, but that wasn't the point! She would cure her amnesia, or... what was it she was going to do?

OH RIGHT. Find out who she really was!

Jean was there, of course, near comatose in her grief and pain. Oh, cruel fate! Why would you strike down a woman in the prime of her youth! She had so much to live for!

Maybe... too much.

She touched her stomach and cried prettily. She could only hope her unborn child of unknown parentage would survive even if she didn't.

The patient in Exam Room 5 was an odd one. ~~Even for a show like this~~ Instead of the cancer ridden little boy who'd been checked in, there was a small fuzzy stuffed animal with a thick bandage wrapped around it's head.

Then, sluggishly, it moved.

"Mommy?"

Yee! I only wish I'd thought of this sooner! Actually as I was writing the request I thought of Timmy from Passions. Maybe next year.

Like Alex wouldn't check on the girl he'd nailed yesterday. She was his first stop. He played favorites when he wanted and it wasn't like she was smart enough to know he was playing favorites.

"Feeling any better?" he asked, picking up the clipboard on the end of her bed.

"Morning," Alex said, slipping into Mirax's area. "You remember who you are yet?"

Such a sensitive one.

Alex made sure to check on the comatose woman with the hulking husband and upon seeing her change, paused for a moment. Then, he just shook it off and slipped into the next room.

It was the brain cancer that took her intelligence from her. Once, long ago, she was a brilliant physicist! She won a Nobel Prize!

"I--" SNIFFLE. "--I think I should leave. And live out what little time I have left."

"If you leave, it would be against medical advice," Alex told her, pursing his lips and making a notation. "And if you fall ill, you'd most likely die for good."

DUN DUN DUN.

"But I have to think of--" Jean clutched her smooth, flat, perfectly trim stomach. "--someone else now."

"No," she said, putting on her shoes. "But today is the day I find out!"

Alex, Dr. Karev, stared at her. "That didn't show up in any of the tests I ran last night. Why didn't you tell me? Why?"

"Is it now?" The confidence was kind of amusing considering she tended to forget just about everything. "Do you know how to get out of the building?"
