First Floor Lobby - Throughout the Day

There was a cart set up in the lobby. Not just any cart, no, but a magical cart of caffeine and sweet sugary goodness. Oh yes, it was Student Council's Finals Week coffee cart, and the Perk and J. GOB had outdid themselves in their offerings to the magical cart of caffeine.

Also George was around when he wasn't taking his Sex Ed final. And if you thought he wasn't overdosing on caffeine and sugary goods, well, clearly you have never met the magical cart of caffeine and sweet sugary goodness.

[OOC: IDEK. Open to all, mod your drinks and snacks and YAY FINALS]

Jack snagged a cup of coffee as he passed the magical cart of all that was good.

Karla was still pretty much in 'avoid everyone if possible' mode after last week, but was lured in by the siren call of caffeine and sugar. She was so intent on delicious caffeinated goodness that she didn't realize it was George who was manning the cart until she was practically on top of it.

Great. For all that she had neither bespelled nor declared her love for George last week, he was still fairly high up on the list of people she was avoiding--ever since she'd caught up on radio, anyway.

But other than turning around and running (which was an option she seriously considered, let's be clear), there really wasn't anything to do but stick it out and hope for the best. Maybe George didn't listen to radio either. Or dismissed most of it as lies, which it usually was.

"Hey," she said shyly, giving him a small nod. "Ensuring your homecoming election for next year?"

"Hey!" Jack said, saluting with his coffee. "This your idea?"

Jack gave Karla a head-nod and raised his cup of coffee at her.

Karla flushed but returned his salute. And fervently thanked the darkness that she hadn't run into Jack while suffering the effects of 'Dite's potion and the love arrow.

Of course, she was doing that for pretty much everyone she'd successfully avoided those days.

Because more awkwardness between them was such a good thing, really.

He raised an eyebrow at her.

Hey! George hadn't been the one walking around in a leather catsuit! Or throwing himself at Merlin. Twice

Relieved beyond belief that George was giving no indication that he'd heard anything amiss, Karla was able to relax a bit. "I don't have finals today...does that mean no coffee for me?" she asked, pretending to pout slightly. "I haven't had coffee all weekend! I might die!"

Deciding discretion was the better part of valour, Karla hid her blush behind a long swig of coffee.

Scalding her tongue was the better option. Shut up.

Was it too early to whiskey it up a bit?

It's never too early to whiskey. Jack would join her, if she asked.

But since she hadn't asked, he took a swig of his own coffee. Ow. Yeah, that was hot.

If Karla thought he had the requisite whiskey, an invitation might have been forthcoming.

Besides, just then, she was preoccupied with trying to get some feeling in her tongue beyond 'pain' and 'burning.'

"I was--" hiding away from everyone and everything on the sixth floor "--studying," Karla said, suddenly very intent on the different varieties of pastries available. "It was with the last of my strength that I crawled down here to hopefully find enough to survive. Please don't tell me you'd let me expire at your feet!" she added tragically, throwing the back of her wrist up towards her forehead.

Despite the cold weather, Beka was out on her way for a run when she noticed the cart and George in the lobby. Twas unclear which she'd seen first.

"Who did you steal that from?" she asked, for the most part joking. And then she remembered that there should be awkwardness, but he was her descendant and she couldn't ignore him. Which made it all that more awkward.

[identity profile] provostsdog.livejournal.com 2009-12-14 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)
She wrinkled her nose at him. "I'd have wondered if you'd steal and then sit around here in public with it," she said. "What's it for then?"

"Is this where I'm the responsible grandmother and tell you to study?" she asked, because... She hadn't seen much reason to study for either of her classes.

Dammit! On the one hand, Karla was pretty done with pastries after the play. On the other, well, this was George and she was a fifteen year old girl with a crush.

...Yeah, her discomfort with pastries didn't hold up much under the combined weight of 'George' and 'crush.'

"Consider me sufficiently revived then," she said, reaching out to accept it with a smile. "At least for now."

She did probe the pastry with Craft before taking her first bite. Just to be safe.

"I'm not either," she said. Having kissed him didn't help and she shrugged a shoulder. "I'll stick to being a Dog."

...it was up in his room. If she'd say the word, she could have it.
