First Floor Lobby - All Day (Tuesday)

The Student Council's coffee cart was back in the lobby today, having been restocked with muffins, pastries, and other sugary sweets, along with plenty of caffeine. There might have been other things Sam wanted to be doing with his day, but his sense of responsibility was too strong for him to ignore his presidential duties. So, with the exception of cooking class and a visit to Anakin's office, he was around to serve anyone who needed a pick-me-up.

There was a radio in the lobby, but he was making sure to turn it off every time it threatened to come on. He liked Christmas music quite a bit, but there were certain songs that no one needed to be subjected to.

Raven passed through the lobby on her way to work in the afternoon, but paused when she saw Sam. "Hello, Sam," she said, smiling at him. "How are you?" She was hoping he was feeling better than when last they'd talked, but she knew the loss of a loved one took a long time to recover from.

"Hey Raven," Sam said, smiling softly at her. "I'm not doing too badly. I haven't been crazy in almost a week, which might be a record for this month. How are you?"

"Very glad last week is behind me," Raven said, remembering that Dinah had been in love with Sam and thus understanding what the crazy was (or at least thinking she did).

"Me too. Although, I could live without the radio today," Sam said. "Have you heard the music?"

"Yes," Raven said, wincing just a little. "It was pleasant the first time, but the repetition has become annoying."

"I wonder if maybe the squirrels are trying to drive us crazy so they'll have more to write notes about," Sam said. "I wouldn't put it past them."

"They are not content to merely report on what people are doing, they are manufacturing drama?" Raven said. She was only half-joking.

"Hey, if everyone's sane, there's less to talk about," Sam said with a soft laugh. "So, did you have a good semester?"

"Some parts were much better than others," Raven admitted. "I have learned much, but there is still so much more."

"I...know exactly how you feel actually," Sam said. "It's been an interesting few months, to say the least."

"How do you mean?" Raven asked curiously. She wouldn't call the loss of a loved one "interesting."

"Well, after Peter...you know...I started looking into my abilities more, kind of," Sam said. It was for Sylar, after all, that he was looking. "Did I tell you I found out where my visions come from?" She'd been such a big part of him moving forward that he felt almost guilty not having shared things with her.

"No, you did not," Raven said, "but I would like to hear if you do not mind sharing."

Sam couldn't help but laugh softly, although it wasn't entirely a happy sound. "You might not believe it, but I have demon blood in me."

"But your family hunts demons," Raven said, surprised by Sam's admission.

"Yeah, I know," Sam said. "I got it from the demon we've been hunting, the one who killed my mom. Apparently, when she found him in my nursery, he was feeding me his blood, and it's still in me."

"Can it be removed?" Raven asked, studying Sam and wondering if it was a deeply ingrained part of him or a sickness she could heal. "Perhaps...I could attempt to heal you?"

"No!" Sam said quickly. He couldn't lose his powers so soon after finally figuring them out. "I mean, I don't know if that'll work. I think the blood is a part of me and there's no getting rid of it. Dean and my dad know, and...well, I mean, they're not happy about it, but they know, and it's okay."

"And the demon blood gives you your visions?" Raven said. "Does it affect you in other ways?" The part of her that was her father's was sometimes difficult to control, and she hoped Sam did not have to endure that same struggle.

"No, it's just that," Sam lied, not quite ready to talk about the other abilities he'd found yet. "At least, as far as I know. The demon has some sort of plan for the people he fed his blood to. I just don't know what that is yet."

"It may be that the demon blood awoke your innate abilities," Raven said thoughtfully. And hopefully. She glanced quickly around for any suspicious squirrels, but she had a feeling none would be paying attention to them at the moment. "But if you feel yourself tempted, please, tell me so that I might help you. I know that feeling all too well."

"Okay. I will, I promise," Sam said, feeling genuinely touched. "I know our situations are still really different, but I have to admit, I feel kind of better about the whole thing having you around. So, you know, thanks."

"You trusted me when you discovered my secret," Raven said, giving him a soft smile. "The very least I can do is offer you what comfort and aid I can, especially since it is something I am so familiar with."
