Jonas hadn't seen snow since leaving the Community. Even then, he'd been more concerned about the damaging effects the extreme weather was having on himself and Gabe rather than just enjoying it. Today, though, he had no such concerns. He'd managed to get through a semester of school on his own, without completely breaking down, and it was almost like the snow was his reward.

He was standing there, a few steps away from the dorms, hands stuck in his pockets and face upturned, letting the light flakes hit his face and stick to his jacket. With the vague memories he still had, he remembered snow making everything sound so quiet and still. He remembered it being wet and making your cheeks pink.

Despite nearly losing his life and nearly watching Gabe die to due extremely cold conditions, Jonas found that he still liked snow. And, with no consideration to the cold, thought just walking around outside the dorms and enjoying it was a nice way to pass the morning.

"Would it be a nice blanket?" he asked, very slowly making his way back to his feet, careful not to slip and end up on his back again.

"It'd be a warm one," she said, which was all that mattered. She sighed and reached for his hand again.

Jonas eyed the hand and gave her a small smile. "You're trusting me now?"

"No," she told him lightly, "but I'll rub snow in your hair if you try it again."

"I'll try to restrain myself," he said, taking her hand again and getting back to his feet. The only snow that he got on her was when he brushed himself off and stomped his feet to dislodge snow from his boots.

"Thank you," he added after a moment. "I feel like you should end up in the snow now, though."

She snorted. "I'll end up in snow if you'll get me there," she said. It sounded like a challenge.

"You won't end up there if I ask nicely?" he asked, half smiling. "Really nicely?"

She shook her head. "No, I'll not make it that easy on you," she told him. She proved it too, reaching down for another snowball to throw him again.

Jonas saw that coming and managed to turn enough so that he'd only take the snowball to his back. It didn't put him in any kind of position to get a snowball of his own so he tried just to kick it up at her with his feet.

She laughed. "We'll both be soaked like this," she warned him. Not that she cared.

"You started it," he accused lightly, trying to pick up an armful of snow so he could toss it all at her at once.

Beka was laughing as she turned away, trying to avoid getting a face full of snow. "It seemed a shame not to show you," she told him and she grabbed a handful of snow and tried to get close enough to push it down his collar.

"Oh, that's cold that's cold that's cold," Jonas said, hopping away from her and trying to yank his shirt collar away from his skin so it wouldn't be so cold. "Oh, wow, that's so cold!"

She should feel sorry. She should, but instead she was giggling like a looby. "Did you expect aught else?" she teased.

"I hoped that you might miss," he said, shaking out his shirt and trying to get himself warm again. "I think you froze the back of my neck."

"Poor thing," she said, sounding aught but sorry. She did undo her scarf and moved towards him to wrap it around him.

"I do feel pretty poor," he said, staying still while she made to do...what she was going to do. He didn't know exactly but it didn't seem like she was going to push him down into the snow again.

Not at this moment, but she wasn't ruling it out entirely. For now, she simply wrapped the scarf around his neck and tied it up. "There. Warmer?"

"Yes," he said, touching one end of the scarf and grinning. "Thank you. I don't have one of these yet. It's used just for this?"

"Yes, to keep your neck and face warm," she said. "These aren't even scratchy."

"It's nice," he said, smiling at her. "My neck is warm again. Perhaps I don't feel so poor anymore."

"You're an easy mumper to get rid of," Beka teased, stepping away. "I suppose that means we should cease the fight?"

"I'm inexperienced but I think calling a truce would be best," he said and offered a hand like he'd read about. It seemed to signal an agreement between two parties.

"If it snows again, I'm sure I'll be more prepared," he said and laughed.

"I'll not have mercy on you then," she countered and instead of taking his hand, she grabbed his lower arm. She'd not learned the handshake thing yet.

"What's this?" he asked, peering down at her grip and then back at her. "I don't recognize the gesture."
