Third Floor Common Room [Friday Evening]

Christmas in California had been okay and New Years in New York had been completely awesome. But now Claire had a very important task at hand. Tomorrow she was getting another little sibling. And she knew how crowded the picnic would be.

Which was why she was sprawled out on the common room floor watching the Wendy the Werewolf Stalker marathon and covering a giant piece of posterboard with glue and glitter.

By now, Leda was totally spooked. Playing that scary video game had been a bad idea. Now she was hearing sounds from one of the common rooms. Who knew she'd be wishing she still had magic powers so soon?

She edged her way around the door frame and peered in. There was someone in there!

"Hello?"

Jon had thought all of the madness had been left behind in New York, only to find his girlfriend surrounded by glitter when he saw her in the common room.

"Please tell me that's normal glitter."

"Hey, Leda!" Claire looked up and waved. "You okay?"

"As opposed to what?" Claire asked.

He's eying the glitter like he expects it to rise up and tackle him to the ground. "I don't know. Glitter that turns people into rainbow colored gerbils or that boykissy stuff they talk about on the radio."

"Why don't you go find a hot boy and we'll see if this glitter causes boykissy?" she suggested with a smirk.

Leda let out a short squeak of fear. Well part fear, part startlement. It needed to be vented you see.

"Oh Gods, Claire. Are you real? You're not a ghost trying to fuck with me?"

That made Claire put the glitter down and stand up. "Of course I'm real. What's wrong? What happened?"

"Jon!" Yay one of the people she'd come back for! "Hi!" She was still a bit discombobulated.

That look was turned onto Claire as he headed for the couch. "I don't think so. The only way that happens is if you get turned into a boy again."

"Leda! I see you made it back in one piece. You missed a hell of a party in New York."

Claire laughed at him. "Aww, you're no fun. I bet you wouldn't complain if I kissed Karla or Angela again though."

Leda groaned and laid her hand across her eyes. "Ohhhhh I'm a spaz, Taz. I came back, and...no one was here. It was all deserted, and I played this scary video game and..." She trailed off in embarrassment and residual worked upedness.

"Aw, sweetie," Claire said, going to give her a hug. "We were all in New York for New Year's Eve. Didn't Jon mention that to you?"

Jennifer wandered into the common room, all... her-shaped.

She plopped down on a couch and waved a little at everyone.

Leda hugged her back, grateful. "Maybe? The last few days at home were kind of a blur. And we don't have New Years in Bordertown so it might have slipped my mind."

"Hey, Jen," Claire smiled at her. "You have a little sib this term?"

"You know tomorrow is newbie day, right?" Claire checked. "That's what the sign is for. I figured it would be an easier way to find my little sib."

"So I hear. I've never celebrated New Year's myself."

The more people who showed up, the better Leda felt. "Hi Jen! Long time no see!"

"No new ones," Jennifer said. "Didi and George are more than enough for me, I think. I take it you do?"

"Leda, hey," Jennifer said, a little smile on her face. "I didn't see you in New York."

"How'd you guess?" Claire joked. "I figured that making a sign and holding it up would be easier than trying to read name tags."

"Too bad. There were thousands of people partying in the streets, live music acts and lots of food and booze."
