Leda had slept through the whole New Years thing on TV. They didn't celebrate New Years in Bordertown, so she didn't know there was anything special going on.

Which made it all the more weird and scary that the island seemed deserted. She hadn't seen anyone on her way up to the school yesterday, no one when she got to the dorms. And still, no one.

She tried to distract herself by playing a video game. She had chosen poorly.

Christmas in California had been okay and New Years in New York had been completely awesome. But now Claire had a very important task at hand. Tomorrow she was getting another little sibling. And she knew how crowded the picnic would be.

Which was why she was sprawled out on the common room floor watching the Wendy the Werewolf Stalker marathon and covering a giant piece of posterboard with glue and glitter.
