3rd Floor Common Room [Sunday Afternoon]

Bobby's ability to somehow procure massive amounts of food had not deserted him, as evidenced by the fact that currently in the common room there was one (1) Bobby Drake, a stack of the last three (3) issues of Rebel Justice Unleashed and one dozen (12) pizzas of various varieties.

The common room was open and Bobby was perfectly willing to share... the pizzas, that is. Persuading him to share comic books might be a more difficult task.

[ooc: bored. avoiding doing anything resembling something productive, at least until I have to go back to school tomorrow.]
bitchprince: (and where did you come up with that one?)

"I am, actually," Arthur said, smirking. "Prince Arthur Pendragon of Camelot. And you would be...?"

He'd generally learned to leave off the title, but the moment kind of warranted it.

Oh yeah, this was totally a school for the insane. Thanks a lot, Mrs. Frederic. "Tsarina Claudia Donovan of Tokyo Minneapolis. A pleasure." She even curtsied.
bitchprince: (...que?)

Arthur squinted at her. "Tsarina," he repeated. "That's an unusual name. Though not for this plce, I suppose." Beat. "The pleasure is all mine." He still had manners, after all.

"It's a title. Like princess only kinda slavic." Man, she hated having to explain a joke. "Call me Claudia."

[personal profile] bitchprince 2010-01-03 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
"Claudia," Arthur said, managing to look apologetic. "I'm not from this time. I fear the titles are a bit lost on me."b
notmyownage: (*goes "uhhhh"*)

Man, this guy's illusions were deeply embedded. Claudia actually felt bad about messing with him. "S'okay. It's an antiquated title, anyway. People keep mistaking me for that Russian girl who vanished, like, a hundred years ago." Not bad enough to stop messing with him, though.
bitchprince: (...que?)

[personal profile] bitchprince 2010-01-03 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
"...which Russian girl?" A beat. "Honestly, I have only minimal idea of what's gone on - which doesn't mean I don't know how to go about things."
notmyownage: (*is ponderous*)

"Camelot's, like, pre-medieval or something, right?" Claudia only barely knew Arthurian legend. She was more of a Renaissance, Reformation, and Industrial Revolution kind of girl. "That's a pretty good chunk of history you'd be missing."

[personal profile] bitchprince 2010-01-03 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
"Dark ages, I'm told." Ah, the hazards of having historians name things: the people from the times in question didn't have a clue. "Although that would be about a thousand years, give or take. I've been reading your histories."

"Yeah, we're not real good at going back much farther than, like, Henry VIII or something."
bitchprince: (...que?)

"Never heard of him." Beat. "You wouldn't have read Jules Verne, by any chance...?"
notmyownage: (*goes "uhhhh"*)

"Some. Not much since I was a kid." She'd been more focussed on non-fiction for the last five years or so. "Why?"

[personal profile] bitchprince 2010-01-03 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Arthur shrugged. "You seem like you want to talk," he said, "And I've been reading him." Not that he cared.

Well, she supposed it was better than trying to figure out where his delusions differed from the written "histories". "Yeah? What d'ya think?"

[personal profile] bitchprince 2010-01-04 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, they're quite good."

Arthur was forced to use the very extent of his skill at small-talk, here. You know. That whole 'trying to be friendly' thing people kept telling him he was horrible at.

It was probably better for everyone involved if he stopped taking that as a challenge.

Claudia did get the feeling that small talk wasn't his forte. "The adventure aspects are pretty neat." She managed to restrain herself from analyzing the technology Verne referred to.

[personal profile] bitchprince 2010-01-04 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
Arthur could small talk very well. If he was dealing with nobles. That he had to keep on as a friend for diplomatic reasons. Or if he had to talk a bar full of drunken folk into letting a friend off.

If only he could wind up in an environment where he could talk about hunting stories... "Too bad his vision of the future didn't entirely hold out," he said, thoughtfully.

"Better his than the one Wells dreamed up."
