3rd Floor Common Room [Sunday Afternoon]

Bobby's ability to somehow procure massive amounts of food had not deserted him, as evidenced by the fact that currently in the common room there was one (1) Bobby Drake, a stack of the last three (3) issues of Rebel Justice Unleashed and one dozen (12) pizzas of various varieties.

The common room was open and Bobby was perfectly willing to share... the pizzas, that is. Persuading him to share comic books might be a more difficult task.

[ooc: bored. avoiding doing anything resembling something productive, at least until I have to go back to school tomorrow.]

"She did?" He smiled at her. "Yes, I am Leto. So, you've met Kate."

"I'm Leia," she said. "I met Kate at the picnic yesterday. When I told her I was planning to become a senator back home, she said I should meet you."

"Oh, I see. So, you're interested in politics." Leto grinned. "It's an inherited occupation for me, you might say."

"It runs in my family as well," Leia said. Little did she know. "My father is a senator, and my mother is...." She stopped herself before she said "Queen." "...is in government as well," she finished.

He noticed the hesitation and raised an eyebrow slightly.

As for himself, Leto had given up on concealing his titles. No one here seemed too concerned anyway. "My father was the Duke of Atreides and Emperor of the Known Universe," he said. "My aunt is currently the regent."

Now it was Leia's turn to raise an eyebrow. "Emperor of the Known Universe?" she repeated. "The emperor in my galaxy might beg to differ."

"I'm sure he does," Leto replied, "But I suspect we are not from the same universe."

"I hope your father was more benevolent than the Emperor in my world," Leia said, not masking her distaste.

"Who decides the character of a ruler? My father was the prophesied messiah to my people." Leto smiled.

"And are you to follow in his footsteps?" Leia asked.

[Sure! Night!]

"If I live," Leto replied. "My sister and I are the heirs. What about your family?"

"I'm planning to succeed my father as the Alderaanian representative in the Imperial Senate," Leia said. "But I want to earn it, instead of just becoming Queen because of who my parents are."

He nodded. "So are royalty on your world expected to earn their positions or are you the one who thinks this is important?"

"Some people might expect it," Leia said, "but even if not, I want to deserve it. I want to be worthy."

"Then I'm sure you will," Leto replied. He was generally a good judge of character.

"Are you psychic, or do you know a future me?" Leia said. Hey, it was a legitimate question here, she'd quickly learned.

Laughing, he shook his head. "I don't know your future, but judging from how you take being worthy seriously, then my guess is you will be. Those who are not worthy was rulers are rarely concerned by it. Mistakes can be made, that's human, but knowing that a leader serves his or her people and not the other way around is a fundamental thing often forgotten."

Leia smiled. "I like the way you think," she said.

Leto smiled back, meeting her gaze. "I'm glad we agree," he said. "And I wouldn't mind hearing more about your governmental organisation at some point." Among other things.

"Only ask me if you're in the mood to see me rant," Leia warned. "I've been told I'm very passionate about the subject."

He laughed. "I'm sure I can face that passion," Leto said. "What is your homeworld like?"

[likes_scoundrels]

"Alderaan is beautiful," Leia said with a small but happy sigh. "Some say it's the most beautiful planet in the galaxy. We've built our cities in harmony with nature to preserve the lands as best we can."

"Adapting to the natural environment around you? That's generally a wise strategy. And you have water? forests?"

He added: "Arrakis is all desert. Some say God created it to test the faithful." But it was clear that he loved his homeworld as much as she loved hers.

"Grasslands and mountains," Leia said. "Forests, and smaller desert areas. We don't have an huge oceans like this world, but thousands of lakes and inland seas." Arrakis wasn't a name she was familiar with, but that wasn't surprising given the prior discussion of emperors and different universes. "All desert? That would be a test to live there," she said, trying to imagine it. "I know of desert planets, but I have never visited one for long."

"It is," he replied. "But that is it's own reward. I miss the desert every day."
