3rd Floor Common Room [Sunday Afternoon]

Bobby's ability to somehow procure massive amounts of food had not deserted him, as evidenced by the fact that currently in the common room there was one (1) Bobby Drake, a stack of the last three (3) issues of Rebel Justice Unleashed and one dozen (12) pizzas of various varieties.

The common room was open and Bobby was perfectly willing to share... the pizzas, that is. Persuading him to share comic books might be a more difficult task.

[ooc: bored. avoiding doing anything resembling something productive, at least until I have to go back to school tomorrow.]

It didn't quite make sense, but Leto suspected it was like explaining visions to one who didn't have them. He nodded. "And this is a place you visit?"

"Sometimes, when my dad's looking for information," she said. "Bartenders, human or otherwise are usually great sources of information."

"And what kind of information does he go looking for?" Leto had to ask, smiling a little.

"He's a hunter," Dru said with a touch of pride. "He does what he can to keep people safe from the creepy things. I help him when I can."

"A hunter of creepy things?" But Leto got some idea of what she meant. "He must miss you when you're here then."

He'd miss her ability to pick out anything touched by the Real World more likely. "Maybe. He's a macho ex-military guy, so even if he did, he'd never show it."

"You're really from another planet? Your eyes?" she asked, lifting a hand to her own. "They're not just contacts or something like that?"

"I am," he said. "All Fremen have eyes like these. It's the addiction to the Spice that's everywhere on Arrakis that causes it."

[identity profile] svetocha-blooms.livejournal.com 2010-01-05 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm going to guess that Arrakis is your planet," Dru said after thinking it over. "But beyond that, I bet I feel how you felt when I tried to explain the Real World."

[personal profile] future_sandworm 2010-01-05 11:44 am (UTC)(link)
He laughed quietly. "Yes, probably. Arrakis is a desert world, home of the Fremen. It's also the only planet where the drug Spice can be found, and our civilisation depends on it. So, control the Spice and you control the universe."

"That's a lot of power," Dru observed.

"Yes." Leto didn't object to that.

[identity profile] svetocha-blooms.livejournal.com 2010-01-05 05:18 pm (UTC)(link)
"You have to use it wisely." She shook her head, not sure when she started channeling her grandmother the mountain wise woman.

"But you talked about addiction? The Spice," and yes she'd picked up on the capital letter, "is a drug. Is it worth it?"
future_sandworm: (smile again)

[personal profile] future_sandworm 2010-01-05 05:26 pm (UTC)(link)
"Can power like that be used wisely?" He smiled again. "As for addiction, it is inevitable on Arrakis. The Spice is everywhere."

[identity profile] svetocha-blooms.livejournal.com 2010-01-05 05:50 pm (UTC)(link)
"I don't know," Dru admitted. "And it's probably way too philosophical a question for the state my brain is in. So I'll ask an easier question. What brought you here to Fandom?"

"My stepmother thought I needed a unique kind of education," he replied. "She was once a student here too. And yourself?"

[identity profile] svetocha-blooms.livejournal.com 2010-01-05 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
"Unique," she said with a laugh. "That's one way of putting it. I'm here because my father said it would be a good opportunity for me. He just left out some of the more unique details. We're going to have to have a talk about that." When he finally settled into where ever he was going and got a phone line installed.

"Perhaps he feared you would be reluctant to go?" Leto grinned.

[identity profile] svetocha-blooms.livejournal.com 2010-01-05 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
"I was reluctant to go even when I thought it was a normal school," Dru replied with a wry smile. "I help him when he's hunting. With me here, he's on his own."

"And was the reason he gave you the true reason for sending you here?" Leto asked.

[identity profile] svetocha-blooms.livejournal.com 2010-01-05 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)
"He said it would be good for me. That I'd learn a lot. I was so mad about being sent I didn't really press for details," she said sheepisly.

"And what do you think now?" Leto asked.

[identity profile] svetocha-blooms.livejournal.com 2010-01-06 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm withholding final judgement." At least until she had a better sense of all the Real World aspects of the place. "But it seems pretty cool."
