Yesterday a promise was made to bake cookies.

Which was why Claire had gone shopping and was currently in the common room, mixing up the dough to bake some double chocolate chip cookies. She left a voicemail for Jool and figured that other people would probably wander by when they smelled something baking.

"Hopefully, this coming semester will be easier," Helen said. "There seem to be some nice new people coming in."

"I hope so," Claire said. "I didn't get to meet very many yesterday."

"I met several," Helen said. "Even got two of them to take off their shirts."

Yes, that was a bit of a mischievous look in her eyes.

Claire laughed. "I can't believe some of them took their shirts off. Someone got to my little. I felt kinda bad for not warning him."

"It was a bit amusing," Helen said. "But I swore to nurse them back to health if they were to catch cold from their shirtlessness. Who is your little sibling?"

"Aw, that was sweet of you," Claire said. "My little is Gunn."

That got a laugh out of Helen. "Oh dear, that was me, then. I do hope he took no ill effects."

Claire giggled. "I don't think so. I checked on him last night and he seemed fine."

"To be honest, I don't know if I should say I'm glad or I'm sorry," Helen admitted with a grin.

"Ooh, yeah, he is pretty cute," Claire agreed.

"Very," Helen said with a smile. "I did not mind chatting with him at all."

"He seems pretty nice, too," Claire said. "Though I get the feeling he tries to hide that."

Helen considered that. "Yes, he does seem to believe he needs to be tough."

Claire shrugged. "Teenage boys are like that."

"I... before here, I really only ever knew one, well, three, but I only knew Adam and Joris for a short time before I came here." She made a face. "I don't know much about them really."

"Admittedly, a lot of the ones here aren't too bad," Claire said. "But there were a lot of jerks at my old school."

"I'm sorry to hear that," Helen said. "That must have been hard."

"Eh, avoiding them was usually the easiest thing to do," she said.

You know, except when they tried to rape you and kind of killed you. And you enacted revenge by wrecking their car.

Helen nodded. "I'm good at that."

"Luckily, there really aren't people like that here."

"No, they're all pretty nice," Helen agreed.
