Arthur had made sure to set up behind the dorms with a reasonable level of visibility. It was, after all, the first meeting since the welcome picnic, and they had to make themselves obvious to the newbies should one or two be drawn to the gathering.

"Good afternoon, people. I am Arthur Pendragon, and these are Zack Fair and Leto Atreides."

He had even let Zack supply the cookies this time. He figured it wouldn't hurt to charm a few, either.

"For those of you who have only just arrived on Fandom, welcome to the Fighting Reserves. Here is where we practice and plan for any invasions with the help of sinew, steel, and other materials from worlds beyond our ken. If you're looking for another way to contribute, Magic Reserves meets on Monday in the Preserve, and Support Services meets on Friday in the park."

That, apparently, were the administrative messages.

"Now, this is the week of the introduction, as most of you know. So if you're new, or you'd like to give the newcomers an update on your abilities, please, let us know who you are and what you can do. Everyone else," and he rubbed his hands as he considered the area severely, "please share your experiences with Fandom invasions, how we handled them, and maybe one or two ideas about how to better handle them next time round."

"Newbies," he continued, "Please keep in mind that the island likes to keep us on our toes, so whatever has invaded in the past will likely not be what invades next. That doesn't mean we can't prepare. Now, get to it."

"Real interesting, yeah," Dinah said, shaking her head. "I had Defense Against the Dark Arts last semester. Some of it was really useful. Some if just wasn't-- well, stuff I'd run into back home. Kennedy said you already knew about magic and stuff?" she asked, waving a hand.

"Pretty much," she replied. "Dad's a hunter, so we've dealt with any number of weird things."

"Oo, wait, supernatural hunter? Demon hunter?" Dinah asked, curious. "We've got a couple people here like that."

"So I keep hearing," Dru said dryly. "Maybe we should form a union."

Dinah snickered. Yeah, easy to see why Kennedy liked her. "You could get a union hall, charge standard rates, maybe get a bowling league..."

"Because people aren't occupied enough with stuff like this?" she asked. "Then again, with the light class schedules, people probably do have a lot of free time."

"They really do," Dinah admitted. "I mean, one class a day-- and three of mine don't start until after lunch! So we've got this, and there's clubs that'll start up in a few weeks, and a lot of people have jobs." She grinned. "Ino has three, at least, I think."

"I should see about getting at least one," Dru said. "Keep myself in spending money."

"There's a lot of places in town. And so many kids going in and out, there's always an opening somewhere," Dinah said, rocking on her heels. "I work at the flower shop for spending money. Also, to save up for a motorcycle." Or at least the insurance for it, yaaaay. Assuming she got one in April like she really, really wanted.

"You don't seem the motorcycle type." She was a bit too perky.

Dinah cocked an eyebrow at her, the same way she would at Kennedy. "What, not grunge enough? I can do the leather thing."

"Too damn bouncy. It makes you lose street cred," Dru pointed out. "It's hard to project a don't fuck with me attitude when it seem like you're about to burst into a chorus of Walking on Sunshine."

Dinah rolled her eyes. "If I projected that, I'd never get a chance to--" Catch bad guys and get away with it. Ahem. Annnd a careful save: "Sneak up on anyone. Besides. You haven't seen me fight yet." Dinah's smile showed a few more teeth. "Wanna change that?"

Dru raised an eyebrow. So Barbie wants to play.

"I'm up for it," she nodded. "Definitely."

And just think. This was Dinah on a down day. 50% energy, 50% more thinkingness.

"Works for me." Dinah cocked her head. "Thursday work for you? I have work tomorrow, as well as classes."

"Fine by me. I've got nothing all day," Dru replied. "Just tell me when it's good for you."
