The Gym, Friday Morning

Kate had told Warren she'd flown away from the crazy when she'd come to Fandom.

Now she'd started to realize that actually, leaving home had merely been a jump off the top of a figurative building. Sure, she'd gotten some distance between herself and the mess at home. But now the mess inside her was starting to seep out.

Her wings weren't working yet. She was still falling.

It wasn't exactly the easiest of thoughts to deal with, so today was a very good day to come down to the dance studio, to concentrate on her body and to get her mind to shut the hell up.

Later in the day, she had plans with Jason. For hanging out in his room. This could easily mean talking, or a massive make-out session, or a fight, or something else. She had no particular vision for what she wanted to happen; she'd deal with whatever it turned out to be when it was that time.

But it wasn't that time yet. Some mellow electro pop was playing, and Kate was at the barre. Focused.

"That's cool, though. At least he's more ready for all the weird possibilities that way." Dinah got to her feet, and pulled one leg behind her back. "Did you find a place to take lessons again yet?"

"My old instructor from back home said she'd contact some people she knows in Baltimore," Kate replied, straightening up and shrugging. "She's supposed to call me about it next week."

"Cool," Dinah said, pleased for her. "I got to shop there yesterday. I don't know why we don't go there more often, I love big cities." And all the trouble in them. "Then again, this place is usually distracting enough."

"Yeah, Fandom doesn't really feel as small-towney as you might expect. Too much random crap happening for that," Kate said. "I haven't really been to Baltimore yet. Should get around to going there, even if the class thing doesn't happen."

"There's some crime and stuff, but it's pretty safe in the shopping areas," Dinah said absently, then added, "But yeah, it was cool. Too bad we're way underage to get into bars, it'd be nice to go somewhere without zombies for once."

"I don't even go to the one with the zombies too much," Kate shrugged. "But there's always fake IDs, unless that goes against your morals?"

Yeah, she was totally teasing her. Not many other teenagers would mention anything about how safe a city was before talking about the bars.

Dinah snorted. "Not when I'm not planning to drink, and everyone here can get booze easy. I just wouldn't want to get a fake ID from Chuck, who knows what name I'd end up with."
