fandomhighdorms | Support Services: First Floor Lobby, Friday after classes

It was still far too cold for meeting outdoors, so the ~~handwavey~~ signs for Support Services that had gone up throughout the dorms directed everyone downstairs to the first floor. Morgana had gotten coffee and tea from The Perk, and there were two sets of cookies on the table, one marked "J,GOB" and one marked "FRANCINE" with accompanying sticky notes about the ingredients and the freshly-baked quality of said treats.

Not that the girls were worried that people wouldn't want to eat their cookies or anything. That would be silly.

"Good afternoon," Morgana said, sipping at her tea. "Since we ~~assumingly~~ have new people here, we thought we'd take this week for some meeting and greeting. No introductions are necessary, unless you would like to introduce yourself, but we know that can be tiresome after doing it all week in classes. Also, we wanted to give everyone a chance to ask questions if they'd like, about what we do, or about Fandom in general. If there are things you've heard about that you still don't understand, all of us would be happy to explain, if we can."

"So I should cease offending you by offering to pay you," he supplied.

So that meant she wasn't doing anything nice for payment, and currying favour meant little in her time, and...

His shoulders relaxed slightly from the set they'd been in since last Wednesday.

That...wasn't quite where she was going, but it wasn't necessarily a bad place to get? Sort of? Erf.

"You didn't offend me. But if you keep doing it, I might have to let Merlin make the cookies next time and not tell you."

Arthur grimaced. "I think that amounts to torture, which I believe is illegal under the Convention of Geneva."

"We're not in Geneva." Shockingly, Francine did know what the Geneva Convention was, but it was occasionally fun to play to her strengths, and cluelessness was certainly one of those.

"Yes. Well. It's international."

"Or I suppose I could just teach him how to make good ones."

"If he ever, ever mentions the word 'baking' again," Arthur said, finally, "I need you to be there. You need to develop some kind of hearing for it. His delusion cannot continue."

Okay, he was looking a bit amused by the end of that.

"They're not that b----" Ah, the place where kindness and honesty met and killed each other, armed only with a toothpick and a spork. "...I'll do what I can."

"Good." Arthur's mouth twitched. "I saw to it that the ones at the Magic Reserve were destroyed," he said.

"...You didn't feed them to the squirrels, did you?"

"No, I asked Tony and Merlin to replace them with Tony's JGoB cookies," Arthur said, shrugging a bit. "Tossed them in with the rubbish, I believe."

Not the most sensitive thing to do in the world, no, but... Was anyone really surprised?

"...I guess worrying about the ants and roaches getting sick would be going a bit too far."

"A bit," Arthur agreed, grinning briefly. "Now we just have to make sure it never happens again. Maybe if more people told them their food was poison it would actually sink into those thick skulls."

And then kindness returned from the dead and shoved that spork in honesty's throat. "Don't be mean. That would hurt their feelings."

Arthur rolled his eyes. "What, you'd rather they murder everyone in the reserves?"

"No, but... there's such a thing as tact!"

"Tact is to be used in diplomatic negotiations," Arthur told her. "What you've been doing is enabling this mad biscuit obsession of his."

"And telling him he sucks at it is just asking for his eyes to get three sizes bigger and make you feel guilty for the rest of your life."

Or maybe that was just her.

And this was Arthur staring at her like she was an alien lifeform. "No, I'm not seeing it. How else is he going to figure out that he has to learn?"

"That would be where the offering to teach him part comes in?"

"He's never going to take it if he thinks he's making passable baked goods," Arthur told her. "Anyway, I told him that if he wants to serve cookies at the reserves, he'd best involve you."

Francine shrugged. "Sure. I'm happy to help."
