Fifth Floor Common Room, Saturday Morning

There were smells and sounds coming from the fifth floor common room that would probably tempt most passers-by.
The sizzle and crackle of bacon and eggs, the bready smell of toasted English muffins, and... okay, it'd be really hard to smell or hear the orange juice just passing by.

Jennifer Walters was feeling good that morning. And she just wanted to share that feeling with others. Making breakfast seemed like a good way to do that.

And if the sounds of breakfast didn't bring people in, the fact she was playing Lady Gaga over a radio might help, she thought.

"I'm plenty tall enough," she protested instantly. "I am perfect just the way I am!"

"Sure sure," he said, obviously not agreeing. "Just not tall enough to be allowed to generalize."

"I'd need to see this rule written down before believing it," she informed him haughtily.

"Can you grab me a piece of paper and a pen?" he asked. "I just sat down, so don't want to get up again."

Totally a brat.

"No," she said loftily. "You ain't important enough to be able to pass that rule."

Jacob glanced around the room. "I'm the most important person here, so I can."

"Oh you wish," she scoffed. "I'm way more important than you. For one, I've got seniority."

He rolled his eyes and scoffed at her. "You women put way too much importance to age. How old are you anyway?"

"Sixteen," she said with a sniff. "And I've been here almost three years so I'm your senior in experience here."

"You're not old then," he said. "And experience is cheap. Just because you've seen weirder stuff and you've got demons in your world, it doesn't make you more important."

"Says the boy who thinks height translates into importance?"

"Height, maturity, wisdom," he nodded. "I've got all three of those and they beat your experience."

"Maturity and wisdom?" she asked incredulously. "How'd you figure that?"

"I don't need to figure it," he sighed at her. "Really, Ino, you're being stubborn."

"Stubborn's in my name," she said impishly. "And I like winning. What're you going to do 'bout it?"

"Hey, it isn't my problem if you can't stand losing from me," he said airily.

"Who said I'm losing?"

"I just did, weren't you listening?"

"I don't think you're listening to me very well," she sniffed.

"I'm listening," he reassured her. "I'm just deciding not to hear."

"I like you," she decided. "You think like I do."

Jacob snorted and his plate was empty now, luckily the coffee table wasn't out of reach. He could put the plate there without having to get up. "That or you're going to hate my guts."

"True true," she said impishly. "Too early to decide on that one."

"Good thing I stopped you from making any love declarations," he grinned at her. Not that I could blame you."

"Oh please," she replied. "As if I'd declare love for anyone in two conversations."
