Second floor common room, Saturday afternoon

After spending the morning reading celebrity gossip mags online, Priestly was all set to be a little more social. He put his kilt on over a pair of ripped jeans, used every dye color in his collection to achieve a banded technicolor mohawk (and a little bit of stripe on his goatee), put in a call to Dinah, and hit the common room to whip up a couple hot subs.

After all, if he was going to go about setting fashion trends, he needed to have something that might draw people in, right?

Yeah, and okay, he was pretty hungry to boot. What? He was a growing teenage boy.

This wasn't Jonas' floor but there wasn't anyone in his common room it'd been getting easier to socialize even with people he hadn't met yet. So, he took a moment to take in the other boy's hair (it was very colorful and...tall) before giving a brief wave.

"Hello," he added, wandering in. A few steps more and he noticed the attire which gave him more pause. "I...don't think we've met yet. I would remember you."

Jonas was sure of it.

"Most people do," Priestly said cheerfully, waving a spatula. "I'm Priestly."

Firekeeper was not a growing teenage boy. Just... a teenage girl with the mindset of a wolf. And the mindset of a wolf dictated that, if there were food around, it should be eaten.

Which is why she made her way into the common room with Blind Seer by her side.

"Priestly, hello! Your hair change colors again." Okay, perhaps it was stating the obvious a bit, but hair dye was still kind of new and novel to her.

"Jonas, hello," he said, giving Priestly a nod. "I didn't mean to interrupt your cooking. Did you need any help?"

Wait.

"I don't know if I should offer that because I tend to burn toast."

"Jonas, hello!" Firekeeper gave him a pleased smile.

"Hello, Blysse," Jonas replied, giving both Blysse and Blind Seer a smile. "How are you doing? You don't seem any worse for wear after the first week of classes."

"Hey, toast is totally easy to burn. But, uh, I got this." Priestly shrugged. "It's kinda my thing. You want one? I've got a wide variety of meats, cheeses, and veggie products."

"Blysse! It has! It does that." Priestly grinned. "Want a sandwich? I got roast beef, ham, turkey, chicken, and/or tofurkey."

"If it's not too much trouble," Jonas answered, nodding. "But yes, I agree on how easy it is to burn toast. I've just recently learned how to use a toaster and experimenting has birthed...some disasters."

Blind Seer padded over to Jonas, intent on angling for ear-skritches. "Is true," she nodded. "Classes is talking a little about some strange things, but," she shrugged, "human world is always full of strangeness, so more is very little trouble. Except, perhaps, if I am expected to read." She made a face at that last statement.

"...Tofurkey?"

"No toasters where you're from, huh? If it makes you feel better, I know people who've had them all their lives and still have disasters." That's what folks like Priestly were for. "What's your poison?"

"Fake meat made from bean curd."

"There might have been but I didn't have access. Only the Food Preparation Workers did, if there were any," he said, making his way over to peer at the sandwich fixings. "Perhaps some ham and cheese? It's boring, I know, but I've found I like it."

"What are you taking?" he asked, reaching down to provide those ear skritches. It wasn't a hardship at all. He liked Blind Seer and, having never had a pet himself, liked being able to see animals this close. "Mine are strange too in completely opposite ways."

". . . What did you do when there weren't any Food Prep people around?"

"It never happened," he said and shook his head. "That was their Ass--job. So, that was what they did everyday. Well, every night. Food Distribution delivered in the evening."

"Huh." That sounded like kind of a soul-less way to eat. "So, what, you never got any hot meals?"

"They were hot when they were delivered," Jonas assured him. "It doesn't make a lot of sense, I know. Most of where I came from doesn't. I'm learning that."

It was getting easier as time progressed.

"Hey, it's all good. No one really quite understands me, either."

Of course, that was less based on where he was from than it was based on the fact that he did things like wear a kilt and jeans at the same time and dye his hair rainbow colors.

"There's a lot more open mindedness here though," Jonas said, unable to keep his eyes from flicking up to that hair. It was just so colorful and interesting. He hadn't known hair could do that. "Even if people don't understand, they tend to accept."

"Around here, it's kinda accept or go insane. We all get pretty used to it, after awhile. I take it you're new?"

"Why?"

"Some people don't like to eat real meat."

"Semi new," Jonas corrected, shrugging one shoulder. "I didn't come in with the most recent group of new students but I'm still getting adjusted. My home is a lot more sheltered than here. It's taking time."
