The Salle, Monday Morning

Arthur wasn't strictly speaking in the right shape to really cut loose. He'd settled, grudgingly, for a lighter staff instead of his sword to train with. Even so, he was likely overextending some of his muscles.

He didn't like the limitations that came with being wounded.

He still had a few claw scratches on his face, but he'd been assured they would heal well enough and without scarring (which was a good thing, because he wasn't yet of the age where he could manage his father's dignified facial scars). Modern medicine or whatever it was they'd given him meant he wasn't going to wind up bleeding or anything.

So it was going to have to be enough. He twirled the staff through the air and started a simple form.

Dinah had slept like the dead the night before, woke up as ready as she could for action, then been relieved that apparently, none of the gremlins were back in the dorms. Or, well, anywhere.

She wandered down to the salle, sore and bruised, and yawned as she gave Arthur a "Hey. You all right?"

"Did you get your bandages changed yet today?" Meet Merlin. He could be a mother hen when not on the hunt for his maybe father.

Oh, please. If he could tell Morgana he was fine a minute before passing out, the "I'm fine," Dinah got was downright Oscar-award-winning. "Eskrima today. Again. Don't get wounded next week."

Arthur, on the other hand, never got less suicidal about his injuries. "Not yet," Arthur said, rolling his eyes a bit. "It's still early days."

Jaina had some time this morning and her player was actually around, so she changed up her training routine a bit to head down to the salle for some practice.

"You look like you've seen better days," she greeted him.

"It was a long weekend," Arthur said, dryly. She wasn't asking him how he was doing, so an answer that wasn't a kneejerk 'I'm fine' was well within its place. "But I'm pleased to see you're still in one piece."

"I think a lot of them didn't know what to do about a lightsaber, to be honest. Made things much easier for me," Jaina admitted. "And of course, even after a long weekend, you're back down here the very next day."

"I'm able to train, I don't see why I should slack off," he said, giving his staff a slight twirl. "Nothing's more annoying than being careful for so long you lose half your edge."

"I'd hope you wouldn't lose half your edge with one day off," she teased. She fought injured far more often than she should, she knew she had no place to seriously suggest a day off.

"You take one day off, and suddenly it's a week," he lectured said. "I'm just trying to set the right example. No injuries yourself?"

"A couple scratches, nothing worth healing myself even. Though I think I did get to freak a few people out when I worked last night in the same clothes I fought in." Because they had blood on them, yes, Jaina, that might get some raised eyebrows.

Did it? Arthur would suppose it did in some circumstances.

"We were being invaded by monsters," Arthur pointed out, "What did they expect? Pristine robes?"

"Generally the people who hang out at the bar during an invasion won't be the ones fighting in it," she shrugged. Even Zayne had been there on a break. "I'm sure seeing some of it brought to them was a little weird."

"Maybe that would have helped convince them to stay as they were." That argument with Morgana wasn't escaping his memory any time soon. "Some of them shouldn't be out during an invasion."

"It's never that easy. Even before I had any real training at all, as soon as there was trouble I'd go rushing right for it," she said. Yeah, she'd been in trouble with bad guys a lot in her youth, for that very reason. "I think a couple of them had been either helping out with support services or been there all day where it was supposed to be safe, so I won't fault them for that."

"Of course it's not that easy. That would just be too simple."

Easy now, Arthur. She wasn't Morgana.

"Still. No one seems to have died." God in heaven, he was sort of processing that whole 'not Morgana' part.

"And I don't think a lot of injuries were too severe," she agreed. "You know people will always go off and do stupid things. There's no way to stop it." Said with a certain amount of sympathy, because she hated sending people off into bad situations, but it was simple fact.

"Stupidity does seem to be a widespread disease," he agreed. He could write books about it. "But pardon my manners, I could go on all day."

"It'd probably be really easy to do," she agreed. It wasn't the first time she'd heard him go off on that, and it probably wouldn't be the last, but as long as he didn't tell her not to do something, it was all good.

She nodded at the staff and said, "Don't think I've seen you with that before."

"As I told you once," he said, giving it another sweep, "We knights of Camelot are expected to be proficient with a number of weapons. The staff's fairly simple in that regard."

It was this, or bitch on for another hour. "Do your knights have anything like it?"

"Not really. There are different cultural weapons like that, like I've seen the Vong use their amphistaffs that way. But the Jedi primarily stick to lightsabers. It probably wouldn't kill us to branch out a little," she admitted.

"Ever found yourself in a situation where you had to improvise with something like it?" he asked. Now with active interest.

You... probably shouldn't be contemplating a staff spar while you were still healing, Arthur.

"Not yet. I'm sure it'll happen eventually," she said, eyeing him. "Why, would you want to see?"

"I was going to invite you to spar sometime."

Which was... the only time he'd probably ever direct an invitation like that at a woman. He had a feeling he should feel disturbed about this.
