Behind the Dorms, Tuesday Afternoon

"We did well this past weekend in warding off the gremlins." Even if Arthur'd been asleep for... well, less time than he was starting to blow it up into being, but he was frustrated. Anyway. "But we can do better. We have shared out our phone numbers - and if you haven't, yet, please leave it in the middle - but when an invasion catches us this early in the morning, we're still left scrambling. I want some of you to serve as points of contact for other students, I want all of you to see about getting a warning out or something like it if you are caught outside the dorms."

"Today's activity is going to be simple," Zack added, crossing his arms over his chest and smiling. "Figure out these points of contact that we have to work on, talk about what it is we can do to make sure that people aren't getting caught out in this stuff without warning. And," he smiled a little, his expression wry, "suggest ways that we could have handled this last invasion better. They won't always party themselves to death."

And sandwiches. And juice. People are probably still tired after the weekend, right?

Savannah was indeed here, even if here was her leaning up against something because she was tired.

Ino was back to her normal energetic self after a night's sleep and was nomming on cookies while idly kicking her legs up in her tree.

Mmm sugar! Mmm invasion talk! La la la!

Not tired from the weekend exactly, no, although yes, Tahiri was looking tired and clinging to a cup of coffee she'd brought with her with the hand that wasn't holding a sandwich. Someone had gotten caught out in that stuff without warning. Best Jedi ever!

Kennedy had totally not been caught off guard, thanks. Just because she'd had to go back to the dorms for her weapons didn't mean she'd been caught off guard. She wasn't going to go for a run with sharp pointy things, as if she was...

She'd have to have a sandwich while she thought about that one. And weighed the likelihood of getting Yet Another Watcher Lecture for it.

"You survived the weekend," Dru said. "Did you get any of the little bastards?"

Kennedy's diffident expression dissolved into a slow, broad grin that had a touch more eager-puppy in it than she'd have cared for, if she'd realized that was there.

"Hell, yeah." The gauze bandage wrapped around her arm-- okay, it was hidden under her shirt and coat sleeve but the point was it was there-- and the shallow cuts and scratches on her hands and face hinted that the little bastards had gotten a bit of her, too. It wasn't damping her enthusiasm one bit. "Yo, Dru. How'd your first Fandom invasion go?"

"Eventful," she grinned. "Dinah and I did battle in the laundry room, then I got a gun and used them for target practice."

"Good time?" asked Kennedy. "I think I'm gonna have to burn those clothes now. Those little guys made a hell of a big splatter for their size, shooting 'em with a crossbow. Must've been a huge mess with a gun. I was out in the preserve most of Saturday, then there was a thing defending the showers in the gym. It was--"

Okay, she couldn't contain the enthusiasm any more.

"It was pretty awesome."

"Oxy-clean helps," Dru told Kennedy, relaying what Layla had told her in the laundry. "It was pretty awesome. I had a bit of a scare when I ran into a werewolf outside the dorms on Sunday morning, but he turned out to be a pretty good hunting partner."

"Nah," Kennedy said with the carelessness of someone who didn't have to think twice about dropping money on new clothes, shrugging. "I wasn't really attached to that outfit anyway. The less I have to deal with it, the better."

Wait.

Her eyes narrowed. "Werewolf? There's a werewolf around?"

Dru on the other hand, had a fairly limited wardrobe, she'd be doing more laundry. "Lucky you."

"Apparently," she nodded. "He was pretty damn determined not to let any of them into the dorm. I almost shot him at first, but then I figured out he was a friendly."

Yeah. Sorry about that, Dru. If your big sibling was a touch more thoughtful she might've offered to buy you some new threads.

"A friendly werewolf," Kennedy echoed with a skepticism only rivaled by her sheer obliviousness to a certain screaming irony at work here. "I'd tell you you were crazy right now, except I've already had to pretzel-bend my mind around demons on the faculty."

"There are demons on the faculty? Seriously?" No one had filled her in on that yet. "I'm saying it once more. This place is weird."

"Still, I wish I knew who it was. I think I owe him dinner."

Kennedy huffed in sarcastic amusement. "I know, right? Like, oh, by the way, we left that footnote out when the brochure went to print. Sorry! You're gonna wear that word out. Hope you have a replacement. Like one that covers more ground than 'weird.'"

'Weird' definitely didn't cover the concept of a friendly werewolf what the hell. Though she was getting a little better at the pretzel-mind-bendy. Slowly.

Going off what she did know about werewolves (she paid attention to her Watcher sometimes, okay?), she hooked a thumb into her belt loop and tilted her head slightly to one side. "Miiiiiiiight wanna schedule that around a full moon, right? And by around I mean so very not."

"Weird's an all-purpose word. It'll do for now." Just occasionally emphasized with fucking weird every once in a while. And this despite all the time she'd spent dealing with the Real World.

"See that's the thing. I checked. The full moon's not till this weekend," Dru told her. "So technically they're probably not a werewolf, but that's still easier to say that really big damn wolf that knew what the hell I was talking about and didn't eat me for dinner."

Kennedy wasn't really in the habit of keeping track of the phases of the moon. She gave herself a good mental kick for it. (Hey. There was probably an iPhone app for that, huh?)

"Okaaaaay, yeah, that's tripped out," she said slowly. "Kinda vaguely reassured knowing it was on our side. Emphasis on the vaguely."

And rather than dwell on brainhurty what-ifs, she aimed a light swat at Dru's arm, not calculated to actually land. "See, told you you'd fit right in around here."

Not that she remembered if she'd actually said so. But the point stood!

"Yeah, it's got it's good points," Dru admitted. Not that she'd ever tell her father that.

Gabrielle had resumed most of her normal appetite by now, even if she still wasn't up to her normal standard of cheerful yet.

This amounted to pretty much a cookie-demolishing that looked a little more dignified than usual, and pointed glares at two certain other attendees.

Jennifer chuckled at the last thing Zack had said, and went and grabbed a cookie to nibble on.

She thought what needed to be handled better... and definitely decided that probably she needed to learn to work better on her own communication about things, but that didn't need to get brought up to the group.

"They partied themselves to death?" Ben repeated with a little smirk. "Really?"

Jacob had caught up on most of his sleep yesterday, so today it was food's turn. Which'd be why he had stolen some of the sandwiches. At least it kept his hands full to consider the whole contact thing.

This weekend had raised some issues after all.

Dru was pretty well recovered from the weekend, so she took a juice and found a spot to listen.

Gunn grabbed a sandwich and listened to Arthur and Zack talk. He then began to wonder if this was what his crew did back home when Gunn ran through a debriefing session after a raid.

Minus the British accent and funky hair.

Illyria had nothing to offer on points of communication, given she... didn't have a phone and had spent the entire weekend gleefully killing things by herself. ~~In another part of the Preserve from all of Shanie's characters.~~

She was, however, willing to listen to others speak on the subject. While eating cookies.

She might even entertain the idea of buying a phone, if only because she would feel no compunction against crushing it when it annoyed her, unlike the one in the room which also belonged to Sam.
