Elle with no classes meant an Elle actually spending time in her own common room for once!

Unfortunately, this didn't mean she had any idea what she actually wanted to do. So she was bouncing between rummaging in the kitchen, sitting in a chair to read a book, and sprawling on a couch with the TV remote.

This plan clearly needed more work. But! It meant she wasn't hermiting away in her room for once. So, y'know, kind of a win.

Hayley wandered into the common room and watched her friend for a moment. "Bored?" she asked.

"Just a little," Elle said, once again flipping through the channels.

"There's nothing ever good on durin' the day," Hayley told her friend, leaning against the end of the couch that Elle was sprawled on. "Unless they decide to marathon something, like that show about eatin' stuff."

"You can't go wrong with shows about food," was Elle's opinion. "Well... I mean, unless you were forced to watch a show about a food you don't like. That'd just be mean."

"Like forcin' a diabetic to watch a show about chocolate," Hayley said. "Or a vegetarian and a steak eatin' contest."

She tried her best not to giggle at the twisted thought, but she couldn't stop herself from smirking.

"I think the vegetarian one would be worse," Elle said, tilting her head thoughtfully. "Because there's sugar free chocolate, but there isn't meat free steak."

"If there is, it probably doesn't taste so good," Hayley said. "Probably pretty awful, even."

She poked at Elle's foot. "So whatcha gonna do to not be bored?"

"I dunno," Elle said. "TV's boring, the books and magazines are boring, and the same old stuff is in the kitchen."

She held up the remote. "You wanna try finding something?"

"Well gee," Hayley said. "You know, you didn't say I was boring. So we oughta do something that ain' TV, books, or kitchen stuff."

"... you're right," Elle said, realizing that she had in fact not said that. (Not that she secretly thought Hayley was boring, just that heeeeey, the second part of it hadn't occurred to her!) "So what can we do that isn't those?"

"Well, we could listen to music," Hayley said, counting ideas on her fingers. "We could mess around, go out and get ice cream, and that's just off the top of my head."

Elle wasn't opposed to any of those ideas, actually.

"I vote we try music first," Elle said after considering the ideas. "I like music."

And they both had plenty of years' worth of music to catch up on.

"Great!" Hayley said. "We could find one of the music channels on the TV, or we could go to the music store, or we could go get my CDs, or... well, lots of things."

She was just a little excited to be spending time with Elle.

"Ooh, let's try the music channels!" Elle said, bringing up the menu guide. "That way we can maybe find stuff we like and then go out and get it!"

"Yeah, I still need to hear more modern stuff," Hayley said. "Oooh, ooh, try to find Katy Perry! I been wonderin' about her since class last week."

Elle scrolled through until she found the music channels and then picked something that sounded like it might have Katy Perry on it eventually.

Hayley listened, and when Katy Perry did come on, she was taken... to start dancing.

"This is great!" she said, grooving to the music.
