One of the easiest ways, Bod discovered, of dealing with leftover restless energy was to get himself out of his room. Finding it was warmer than it had been was even better. It meant he could go outside without feeling like he was going to turn into the human equivalent of an icicle.

With a walk into town on his mind, Bod decided he could wait awhile when he discovered the deck. It look little used (which made sense during the winter months) but it was warm enough today to get some use.

So, he clambered onto the deck and took a seat, making himself comfortable by stretching his leg out and tucking his arms behind his head. Of course, now that he was there, he didn't really have much to do. Staring at the sky worked for a few moments before he let his eyes slip closed.

It wasn't sleep so much as an easy way to take himself back to a different time in a different place with different people. He didn't do this often since it tended to make him maudlin but on a brisk Monday, he allowed himself the luxury.

[deck's an open place! just trying to keep myself awake!]

"Bit of an adrenaline junkie that way, yeah," Ino confessed with a laugh. "But my world and profession encourages that, so it's all good. Not like I'm running into danger for no reason or anything."

Because that would be stupid.

And funnily enough, Kate had pretty much been accused of doing just that over the weekend.

"That would be pretty dumb," she agreed. "And this is the point where I ask... Your profession?"

[intraspective]

"Ninja!" she laughed. "But real. Not like the stick ninja."

[vanillajello]

"Yeah, I can see that. You're very un-stick-like," Kate said, nodding slowly. "...A ninja, seriously?"

[intraspective]

"I wouldn't lie 'bout that," she said, sipping her hot chocolate. "It's true. My family is normally ninja."

[vanillajello]

"Huh." Well, it wasn't as if Kate had really too much trouble believing that. This was that kind of a place. "So what do you guys do, exactly?"

[intraspective]

"That's a pretty general question," she laughed. "But short answer is: we protect our home and do the work that our leader accepts for us from people looking to hire ninja for whatever reason."

[vanillajello]

Kate smiled a little. "Yeah, I know it wasn't exactly a specific question. But that's pretty much the level of detail I wanted. I knew the word, but I had no idea what it might actually mean."

[intraspective]

Ino grinned back at her.

"It's a good basis, I guess?" She shrugged lightly. "And that's true, ninja can mean different things with all the world's around here."
