Behind the Dorms, Tuesday Afternoon
"Yep," Zack said, as the members of the reserves gathered, "I'm still getting you guys to think about what happened a few weeks ago with the gremlins, this week."
Wasn't Zack mean? He'd brought extra cookies to make up for it, this week.
"There were some troubles with communication when the gremlins hit, and we're working with the other reserve groups in order to iron those out so that hopefully getting the word out about invasions won't be so much trouble in the future. So, while we work on that, there's something else that we ought to take into consideration in the meantime."
He shot the group a grin, and then reached for his back, where his sword usually rested. He wasn't wearing it, today, and his hand groped around his shoulders for a moment before, with a shrug, he returned it to his sides.
"What do you do when you're caught off-guard by an enemy attack? I got lucky when the gremlins hit, because I was on my morning run, and had brought my sword with me for the extra weight while training. But if I didn't have my sword, what would that have left me with? Usually, I at least have some potions on me, but nothing that I can really call a weapon. I keep most of my attack materia- yes, I do cast spells when I fight, too- in my sword, so without that, all I have to rely on is my wits, my body, and my surroundings."
Don't mind him reaching for a cookie. It was something to toy with in his hands while he talked.
"Today, our activity is easy, but that doesn't make it unimportant at all. I want you all to talk about what it is that you usually carry with you that you can put to use in an unexpected fight, if you happen to get caught in one before we can get the word out to you. Weapons aren't allowed in the dorms, and so it might come to be habit to just wander around the island without all of the time. How many of you stop on your way outside to arm yourselves? How many of you can just grab something from your surroundings to use as a weapon? If you have some kind of physical ability that puts you at an advantage, that's awesome. If the best you have is some means of getting out of harm's way until you're ready for a fight, that's good too. But I don't want anybody to leave here today without at least trying to come up with something."
Zack, for example, had enough potions to keep himself from dying a horrible death if he was forced to retreat. Or, if worse came to worse, he could always just grab a beach umbrella and use that instead of a sword.
[OCDon the way up! Open Reserves is open!]

Arrive! Mingle!
Re: Arrive! Mingle!
Pffft.
Though she did like the topic here. Much more interesting than class. Hmph.
Re: Arrive! Mingle!
After all, it was the sort of thing she didn't really have to worry about, normally. She didn't use weapons usually. But then again, when you're super strong almost anything was a weapon. Signposts, manhole covers... the possibilities were endless when you thought of it that way...
Re: Arrive! Mingle!
And still.
Maybe it was the boredom of sitting on his ass for over a week. Maybe it was nostalgia. Who knew. He caught the noise of the meeting and came wandering in, picking a wall to lean against and observing things from the rear.

... So long as they weren't Merlin and Karla's cookies.

She scarfed the cookie down-- then another and another and... yeah-- while she contemplated the question; she'd gotten into the habit of keeping a bottle of holy water on her all the time, and one of Constance's drills with her was to walk into a random room or public area and ask her what in the vicinity she could use as a stake if she needed to. If she wasn't dealing strictly with vampires, it broadened her options a lot. Hmm...

Bamf! He teleported about two feet to his left in a puff of smoke.
"-- that."
Re: Discuss!
"Carry a weapon, or be one," she said succinctly, instead. "Preferably both."
Talk to the Guys!
Re: Talk to the Guys!
He probably would have killed the gremlin before it could take a large, messy bite out of his arm, for example...
Re: Talk to the Guys!
Well, let's just say that improvisation was, at least, not one of his weaknesses. (He'd tell you this was because of years of training and discipline. He'd be lying. It was because Morgana had clocked him over the head and into a pond with a piece of horse manure somewhere around age 12 and he'd sworn he would never, ever be caught off guard again, on price of his ego)
He was there, contemplating the finer points of some of his previous encounters with such.
Re: Talk to the Guys!
"You're not going to throw things at me, are you?"

In whose direction, no one had to guess.
Re: Talk to the Guys!
"Arthur, did you happen to listen to the radio last night?" she asked as she went over to him. That counted as a proper greeting, honestly. "I found it very interesting."

OOC
I want a Sumi all of my very own. This has led to me buying far, far too many of the February Happy Meal toys at work, yes. (I am just missing one Miga toy, and I will have collected all eight.)

Re: OOC
Now she drags it around the house by his earmuff.
